Brilliant, big mprovement
operating system:Windows XPI had the previous model which was faulty and was replaced by Belkin within 10 days under warranty. This is a massive improvement, the device has been greatly improved from the previous model. The middle switching button has been removed and is now a remote sturdy button whiich can be placed anywhere with the fixing pad.
The KVM cables have also been improved but others may not like the fact that one set of the dables has been shortened to roughly 50cm whilst the other set is approx 1m.
The software is also very good, it is now possible to switch full control, just video which is handy when listening to audio on 1 machine and working on the other.
Overall this is a very good quality and handy device, I highly recommend it.
Simple and Well Designed
operating system:Windows XPA nice stylish piece of equipment, it has two multi-connectors running off a triangular base unit and a remote switch pad.
The multi-connectors plug into each PC, they have a VGA plug, a USB plug and an Audio plug on each, one lead is slightly longer than the other, the assumption is made that one is for the desktop and the other for a laptop.
The base unit is very compact and has a VGA socket, two USB sockets and an Audio socket, all reasonably spaced apart. You connect your Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and Speakers into this.
A separate jack plug on the base unit allows the remote switch pad to change between PCs, the lead on the switch pad is very long and allows the base unit to remain hidden well beneath the desk.
Previous designs had the switch on the base unit itself, so the positioning of the sockets was important, but in this model it doesn't matter, it all remains hidden amongst the jumble of wires most PC owners have behind their PC table.
The switch pad is small, round and white, approx 4cm diameter. There is a small LED to show which PC is connected.
My only complaint is that the colour scheme to differentiate between the PC connectors could be confusing, mine is pastel light green and yellow, which, in my opinion, could be difficult to tell apart, especially as the rest of the unit is white.
The green/yellow colour coding is on all connectors, leads and the switch pad itself, as well as the LED, making tracing the wiring easy.
Overall a very nice, attractive, solid piece of equipment that does its job well, can't fault it, so full marks.
recommended switch
operating system:Windows XPI am using this switch with XP on one PC and Win98 on an old PC, with a USB wireless keyboard & mouse. It didn't come with a fixing pad but a dod of blue tack does the job. Once or twice the wireless connection to the old PC has disappeared, but I keep a PS2 mouse plugged in as back up.
The alternative would have been using two monitors or crawling under the desk to swap the monitor cable between PCs, so the switch has saved a lot of bother and desk space.
Vista and windows 7
operating system:Windows VistaUsing this kit with 2 dual boot systems, running 64 bit Windows 7 and XP on machine one and 32 bit vista and XP on machine 2.
Installation is very simple, follow the quick install guide, its effectively plug in the cables in the right order then play. (a reboot was required on the 64 bit system)
The kit switches between the machines well and I like the way you can listen to music on one machine while doing work on the other.
overall I would rate this product as excellent and have already recommended it to a number of friends and colleagues.
