Unbelievable Value
operating system:Windows XPI would like to begin by pointing out that this case is little over a tenner, and you've gotta remember that.
I was fairly shocked at the size of this case when it first arrived - from other reviews I had myself prepared for a monster of a case, yet this only measures up at around 43cm in length. Having said that, I have no doubts that this will easily house my Powercolor X1950 Pro 512mb (yes from ebuyer).
In terms of appearance I would say all is good. The front panel has the nice effect of a curve on one side, although you WILL now get what is pictured, rather than a blacker case which others describe. Although it has been done fairly well, there is evidence that the case has been spray painted. Fingerprints appear instantaneously on the semi-glossy surfaces, but can easily be wiped away when breathed on.
In terms of materials used, here's where you get what you pay for. Other than the matte front panel, the case is essentially a big boomy metal box. However, it is still very nice to look at, and unless you decide to assemble your computer at one o' clock in the morning, this is not an issue at all. I believe the power buttons feel nice and rigid, with definite action, and should last a long time.
There is an LED lighting up the front mesh (behind which you can fit a 92mm or 120mm fan), which is a nice touch. The 'flip down' CD drive cover helps stop even nasty beige drives from spoiling your look, which is essential if appearance is your thing. However, if you're into having card readers etc exposed, there is only one exposed 'floppy sized' space on this case, so beware.
Finally I'd like to end by describing exactly what you get with the case. The case itself has 'built in' motherboard risers, and so only comes with 3 removable ones. It also comes with plenty of screws, of the different varieties available.
Looks a whole lot better in the flesh.
operating system:Not ApplicableGot this as part of a re-build and was really impressed with the quality.
It's finished in a gloss black paint, and is set of by a blue backlit led front panel (bottom left of the unit). The images displayed here do it no real justice. Plenty of room for a full atx mb and houses an 8800GTX card with ease.
Simple build case
operating system:Not ApplicableNo problems with this case. A bit flimsy before all components are in, but firms up well. No sharp corners.
The DVD tray at the top does hide a wrongly-coloured drive. If it fails to work, all you need do is slide the drive back or forward a little and it'll soon be fine.
Most cheap cases have the front ports on the right side - the side that is bound to go against a wall/desk if you want the fan to get air to the CPU. This puts them on the left... which is SENSIBLE!!!
Blue light through grill on left front is quite quiet and not too vulgar. Power and reset button feel solid. No firewire socket (few at this price have it - shame)!
Paint well finished for the price. Clips together well, no rattles.
Plenty of space inside. Easy build. Oh, and CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP.
If you are after a budget case, this is just fine. If you want a luxury gamer's syled case, spend six times the price!
Better then your paying for
operating system:Windows VistaYou've got the obvious floppy thin metal but c'mon its 13 quid.
Other then most people's gripe this case is decent, without getting hands on no one would know its a cheap case. There's a bit of metal mesh on the front covering up where the front fan goes so if you install a fan with LED's it makes the case look much smarter then it is without being gaudy and "lookit me!!"
I fit my entire enthusiast build into it given a few "modifications" to the case.
It will fit a normal ATX system board with an Nvidia GTX 285 (or any other current gen monster card) only if your prepared to cut the inner wall of the lower HDD cage out. As stated before and by other reviews the metal is thin and flimsy so I went straight for the 4 rivets holding it in and it came out without a lot of fuss (used some wire cutters.) This will in effect ruin the lower drive cage but there's still 2 other bays for HDD's elsewhere.
Second modification I needed to do was to the flappy door cover that is a great idea to conceal off colored disk drives. I'm sure it'll work fine with a newer drive but my DVD drive is somewhere in the region of 6 years old so I needed to use the same wire cutters from before and trim some plastic away to allow the tray to move freely. From the outside it still looks factory stock so nothing I've mentioned ruins the look of the case.
At the end of the day, there's plenty of room to conceal wires inside the case for neat and tidy wire management, along with a very good selection of screws included with the case ( No fan screws included.) Screw holes are all correctly drilled, and there is a surprising amount of disk and hard drive bays.(Sans my modification) If you need yourself a cheap case that can hold you over till you can afford a CM Storm Scout, or LIAN LI PC-P80R. Or if your just looking to house a casual use computer at 13 quid you there are no short comings to this case.
