D-Link Xtreme N PCI Express Desktop Adapter D Product Description
Wireless N technology offers more speed, extended coverage and virtually no dead spots while still compatible with previous network standards. This adapter transfers data at speeds of up to 300 Mbps.
The DWA-556 supports WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption methods and includes a configuration utility to find available wireless networks and show quality/signal strength.
No experience required, simply insert the enclosed CD into your computer and the installation wizard will do the rest.
Please note: networking components such as switches, routers, UPS and wireless devices require that speeds & standards be consistent throughout the network to gain optimum performance. To avoid compatibility clashes or for advice, please contact us on solutions@ebuyer.com.

Great Card
operating system:Windows 71st thing you will notice is that the box does not say "Xtreme" on it, and neither does the card. the pic shows silver and white colours, but it has the usual D-Link black and orange on it.
Now you may start thinking what I did first of all, that this is just a standard DWA-556 card, but after looking on the D-Link site they only do one version of this card. So although it does not have Xtreme on the product, IT IS the Xtreme card.
DO NOT install the way described in the manual/CD folder!!!!!!!
all you need to do is install the card, reboot the PC, and wait to see if windows detects it. (mine didn't because i was not connected to the internet, Obviously) if like me your Windows says "unable to install drivers" just launch the CD and install drivers from there. that should be it!
the only thing I have to say against this card is that although the Connection Manager software that comes in the driver install says 84% (router is downstairs, and opposite corners of my house)
the network and sharing center within windows says connected @ 300mps. now I might be wrong here but is a network card able to connect @ FULL SPEED with under 100% signal?????
If it can then can someone just clarify that for me.
I have done a few speedtests and I AM getting better speeds over my Netgear N USB adapter that I was using. going from about 8-9Meg to almost 11Meg (talktalk pro)
If someone was to ask me what Wireless Network Card to buy?
it WOLD be this one!
Windows 7
operating system:Windows 7Contrary to other (old) reviews floating about on the 'net, this card works perfectly with Win 7 64bit OS.
I didn't bother with the CD that came with it, just went straight to D-Links website and downloaded the latest.
Great signal strength.
This link will take you to D-Link's site. Get the latest drivers from the "Support Resources" tab.
