Quiet, fast and Green !
operating system:Not ApplicableI purchased 2 of these 500 GB HD drives. One as a windows xp pro boot drive and 1 for storage.
Very very impressive !
Much, much quieter than I thought and quieter than my slightly older WD Caiver drive. Also plenty fast enough for booting win xp without ANY problems. Before I had 3 "normal" HDs in the PCs. Replaced 2 with these WD green drives and the PC seems to be running much cooler - the PC fan hardly needs to come on - only occassionally if copying large amounts of data (GBs) between the drives. Otherwise, they run quietly, fast and generate much less heat.
Would definetly recommend these HD - crazy not to buy them.

Excellent Drives
operating system:Windows XPBought 2 of these, not to use as boot drives but for mass storage and i cannot praise them enough. Because they run at 5400rpm they are 100% silent and they run nice and cool so they are not pumping heat in to the case.
As for the speed of them i was kind of worried they would appear slow but with a platter density of 250GB per platter they are still plenty fast enough with HD Tach showing an average read of 76MB/s (my 500GB caviar blue gives only slightly better speeds at 77.2MB/s).
Silent, fast and energy saving, what more could you want?
Good value
operating system:Not ApplicableVery happy with this drive. It replaces a 3 year old 160GB drive also made by WD, but I noticed the amps requirement was about 25% less power which is good. It felt like it was at least 50% heavier though!
