WINS MICROSOFT HANDS DOWN!!!
operating system:Windows 7I bought two of these little gems quite a long time ago together with the Microsoft LifeCam of the moment
Comparison:
(1) Microsoft webcams drivers & software need and indecent quantity of Mb to work / This cam does not need ANY. Works directly with any windows version and some linux ones.
(2) Picture quality of Microsoft is horrible / The nexus is crystal clear
(3) Microsoft only provides decent quality at fixed distances/Nexus gives to me good quality at all distances without changing the focus
(4) Microsoft does not work well with low light level/Nexus just have so potent leds that I can use it as a night light for my children's room.
(5) Microsoft is pure plastic / Nexus is metallic
(6) Microsoft cost was2,5 times the cost of the nexus and you would spend five times if you need to match the nexus performance.
I am ABOSLUTELY DELIGHTED with the nexus....
Postdata: E-buyer,service was excellent and fast.
Drivers
The best drivers to use for this are Vimicro drivers.
Re:Fedora
The lights are working fine for me (Fedora 12 x86). They turn on in dark automatically, I do not know how to adjust. Tested in skype. Mic is fine.

Works in Fedora 12 Linux
review by: jss operating system: Linux
Seems to work fine on Fedora 12 Linux (x86-64), at least when quickly tested with the latest skype beta. The microphone appears to be okay with pulseaudio, though I haven't checked the sound level. The lights don't appear to switch on, however.
Works in Ubuntu 10.04
operating system:LinuxThe picture quality seems fine. It was plug and play for me but I can only get the 640x480 (or smaller) resolution to work in Ubuntu. The lights come on automatically when it is dark and I can't find anything which turns this on or off so I have to leave it unplugged when not in use or I get bright LED's shining into my eyes when it gets dark.
