EXCELLENT VALUE FOR THE MONEY!
operating system:Windows VistaFantastic psu for the money its very quiet (virtually silent) bought to build a media centre pc its perfect for the job as i wanted it to be quiet.
Does the job
operating system:LinuxWhilst I would normally not trust an unknown brand of PSU I needed a matx supply for a case mod and it was this or the ebuyer value model...
I've got this powering a c2q 9300, 4gb ddr2, 1x3.5" hdd, 1xocz vertex ssd and a 9800gt all on a zotac 9300-itx wifi motherboard and have had no problems so far. It's quiet and runs cool.
In response to a previous question there is no power switch on this psu.
OK, i think its quite noisy, but it is cheap. No 8 pin cable for new MATX boards
operating system:Windows 7Put together a new rig over the weekend (details below). Replaced the PSU that came with my new case. THis one fitted in just fine
A couple of points:
- this doesnt have many connectors. i ended up using three different adapters for my various bits of kit (luckily i had several spares). I needed one for graphics card (four pin), one for blu ray drive (SATA), one for new mobo (eight pin)
- no external on/off switch.
- Does make a fair amount of noise and it gets quite hot.
That being said, its cheap and it does the job (you'll see below that its powering a fair amount of stuff).
My new rig, all from ebuyer for Gbp 400 (apart from Vapor X card; ebuyer dont seem to stock this). Kills Napolean TW on Ultra settings (i dont play enything else!):
- AMD Phenom II X2 555 BE 3.2GHz AM3 6MB Cache
- Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H 880G Socket AM3 8 Channel Audio MATX
- Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Memory
- Sapphire HD 5770 Vapor X
- Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm
- LG CH08LS10 Super Multi BD-ROM & DVDRW with LightScribe
- CIT 500W MATX PSU
- Shiny Piano Black/Silver Super Slim Micro ATX Mini Tower Case
Died after 4mths
operating system:Windows 7This is a very quite power supply and seemed very good value for Money.
I fear this has a knock on effect on the reliability as my unit has blown up after only 4mths. What i would say is if your unit has good ventilation then this would be very good. But if you are running a small high spec media unit then it might be worth looking at the alternatives avaliable.
