More agro than it's worth
operating system:Windows 7I bought this heatsink and fan for my AM2+ Gigabyte motherboard as I liked the idea of the large fan cooling not just my AM2+ Phenom II X4 cpu, but my motherboard too. On taking out of the huge box I found the heatsink to be exceptionally not too big. Big agro problem though: You have to take off the motherboard's heatsink retention bracket and repalace with the one provided . This was a first for me and my case and motherboard's cut outs at the back blassfimingly weren't synchronised, so I had to cut out some of the metal from the case with me Black and Decker. Once the new retention bracket was in place the new heatsink had to be bolted onto the retention bracket with thumbnail screws. This was quite difficult as, even with my Antec 300 case, I had difficulty limboing around underneith the heatsink to tighten up the screws. The heatsink was very well builth, though, although the heatsink and fan did block access to my number one and two ram slots. I ran the computer and the new fan ran very quietly. The fan plugs into a four pin cpu fan socket for cool and quiet etc. After a minute of two of running, fried motherboard! I'm not going to use this heatsink again.
