Really, really good
operating system:Windows VistaI tried several .11g big brand routers and access points to get access from a router located in the office building some 50 metres away, I experimented with a more powerful antenna, but only got 1-2 bars and lost the signal several times an hour.
I read about the new .11n generation and chose this edimax. I only did so after a lot of reading but was still apprehensive, because it wasn't a Belkin or a Netgear.
I was absolutely blown over buy the quality of this product/technology. The installation was straight forward and I moved from 1-2 bars to 3-4 bars.
Edimax has a very clever utility named, err, Edimax Wirelss Utility, which gives you the strength of signal on both channels, plus the noise levels, which was extremely useful in determining the optimum location of the access point, antenna orientation and usb dongle.
Hint: using an usb cable extender and trying various locations for the usb donggle will help you locate the optimum position for maximum signal strength
I recommend this product wholeheartedly.
p.s. After reading the above I felt I should state that I am not an Edimax marketing wise guy, the review is a bit too positive.
Easily extended BT Homehub range with this
operating system:Not ApplicablePerfect solution for extending wi-fi range.
Make sure you are well within range of your router then:
1) Connect the unit to a PC with a standard cat5 data cable (it does not come with this, so buy one at the same time if you don't have one).
2) Run the Wizard on the CD and choosing the universal repeater mode, your router and the same security settings.
3) Unplug everything and move to the edge of the existing signal range.
4) Plug it in and within a minute it should handshake with your router and boost the signal from there.
I shall be buying more of these for my customers in the future!
Excellent Product
operating system:Windows 7This range extender is excellent. It's fairly easy to setup and works really well in a very big and vast building. I set this up to work with a Netgear router as it would not work with the standard BT Business Hub HGV2700. The building we are in is an old cinema converted into a school. The walls are made up of very thick concrete and there are a lot of corridors and passages. The teacher furthest away gets 2 bars signal strength, and her internet connection is fast and snappy. Overall an excellent product
Great all-rounder
operating system:Not ApplicableI bought this so I could have wifi in my room (iPhone, laptop etc) as the router upstairs isn't really sufficient to cover the whole house and it has served its purpose very well. Very simple to set up etc and haven't had any drop outs so far! :)
Reasonable price too!
