Please do NOT put on the bandwidth management with this router.
operating system:Windows 7The EZQoS for allowing latency free gaming among other things, does NOT work at all well. When enabled it actually causes very high latencies to occur and slows the internet down considerably.
Default address for web interface : 192.168.1.1
Default username and password : admin (please change password as soon as possible)
If you do turn on EZQoS, you will need to restore settings to default to turn off fully... You do so by login into the web interface and going to Advanced Settings => Administration and selecting on the tabs (right pane) Restore/Save/Upload Settings.
Remember once restored you will have to go through the first setup process again.
Also, if you get trouble with older devices connecting to the WiFi, remember to set the router on WPA-Personal with TKIP encryption or you will get some issues with the device randomly disconnecting or no data being received.
MAC address filtering is a very good way to increase your security level, the router will state at all times all connected devices, and there will be their mac addresses available for you to see on the main page of the web interface.
Collect the MAC addresses of all devices (which should be 12 letters/numbers) then under the advanced settings => Wireless and on the tab (in the right pane) select Wireless MAC filter, add all your devices with the Accept, and then it will only allow devices with that MAC address to connect.
You could hide your SSID for extra security, though some WiFi devices may become more problematic to connect to your router, you'd also have to do manual setup on the device. If you do hide your SSID? Then use these settings.
SSID: ASUS (Default, I suggest changing it... case sensitive)
Connection Method: WPA2/AES (Default for the device, if you do have problems, and have changed it to WPA-PSK/TKIP, then put that instead)
Password: Your WiFi password you setup on first run.
Once EZQoS was off, this was a very nice and reliable router, the range on the wireless is way better than previous. The connection is always there and it connects instantly without hiccups. Though rating with 4 stars because of the problems with EZQoS.
If you wish to do port forwarding? It is not called such on this router, look for Virtual Server under Advanced Settings => WAN.
