Works great in 2011 MacBook Pro's
operating system:Mac OSXOrdered this yesterday evening, arrived 10am via Parcel Force. Installation was a breeze into my 2011 Macbook Pro (unibody, Sandy Bridge).
No issues with compatibility whatsoever, I'm running 10.7.1 as well and now have a huge 8GB of Corsair memory!
Good RAM at good price
operating system:MacThe service and delivery was obviously very good as is always with ebuyer. Even though I installed the memory last night so it hasn't been thoroughly tested, I did perform two full memtest passes on the new modules and they both passed fine. They have also had some, albeit quite little real world use, and they perform as expected. MacBook Pro i7 2.0GHz 2011.
Do NOT get the equivalent from Apple's store
operating system:Mac OSXI installed these in a 2011 Macbook Pro, which runs Windows 7 inside Parallels 7, Ubuntu server inside a Virtualbox VM, and of course, OS X as the host OS. This often includes a few web browsers and Photoshop (I am a web developer).
With the default 4GB of RAM, I would experience performance hits sometimes even without Parallels running. After installing this RAM, it was by far the biggest improvement of performance on a single computer I have seen so far in 6 years of upgrading computers. Parallels responds as if it is the native OS. OS X runs as if the machine is brand new. Firefox opens in 2 seconds (before it was about 8 seconds, even if it was running in the background). This is all with various applications running (Thunderbird, Komodo Edit, Chrome, Spotify, and Skype).
If you hear of anyone who bought the RAM from Apple, then sorry, but they have just wasted a few hundred quid. I cannot find any justifiable reason to buy the 10-times overpriced RAM from Apple. They do not sprinkle magic dust on it - it is still just RAM. Samsung RAM in fact (2011 Macbook pro 4GB).
Installation is very easy too. The hardest part sadly though, was getting the modules out of the PACKAGING. The plastic grips the RAM so tightly, that it felt like the modules were going to snap. Thankfully they did not. Apple themselves provide clear instructions on how to replace the RAM, in the manual that came with the Macbook Pro - follow their instructions, and you will not void any warranty.
alienware compatiblilty
operating system:Windows 7Love corsair products and thought id buy this for my alienware m11x netbook.Had it for 5 days and its already giving me bluescreen errors.So my advice is if you have an m11x dont buy this.Im retuning it for some crucual memory.The only good thing i have to say is ebuyers service was great and so are there prices.Well done!!!
