Excellent upgrade, spare or replacement!
operating system:Windows 7I actually got a MK300 as s a replacement to a Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000, whose keys decided to stop functioning after about 7 months of light use - great RMA service from ebuyer!
The difference between a MK320 and the 300 is that the 320 has a much small transceiver that clips into the base of the mouse for compact storage, and offers slightly less battery life on the mouse (5 months rather than the 8 of the mk300). This is because the space occupied by the clip-in part takes up a battery slot - it only needs one battery rather than two in the mk300.
Firstly, keyboard is responsive and quiet; mouse has an invisible sensor of 1000dpi, the Microsoft had a laser but this is optical, and much better. It's great on all surfaces, even my textured carpet floor, but watch on highly reflective things like dvd cases.
Gone are annoying lights for num lock & caps lock, instead you can enable/disable an on-screen display to show you whether these keys are toggled or not. There is no scroll lock, but I don't see that as a problem.
The function keys are fully customisable, but the defaults are perfect on their own. The software suite is simple, easy to use and complete - the middle mouse button by default switches between open windows, but this can be set to a host of functions.
The range is much better, apparently a full 10m away, with secured wireless keystroke encryption. i haven't tested this, but it holds beyond 3m, the Microsoft wouldn't do past a metre!
All in all, this combo is ace for the money.
10/10 for logitech and ebuyer!
