Great Value Product
operating system:Windows 7Purchased two of these ethernet cards. Edimax is perhaps not one of the better known brands in the UK but that shouldn't necessarily put you off - I've never had any problems.
This product is actually based around the Realtek RTL8169SC chipset, which is widely used as an OE part, offering both good performance and specification. When installed Windows 7 found the device(s) straight away, although I decided to use the Realtek driver for this product (chipset) in the end (not the Edimax driver/software) as the Realtek driver was more up-to-date. Realtek generally update their product drivers on a monthly basis, which is a big plus.
I deliberately purchased this PCI based product instead of a PCI-E based ethernet card as it fills one of the legacy PCI ports that are still a feature of even the most recent motherbaords. As such, the PCI-E ports are available for soundcards/graphics cards and the like. One other thing worth mentioning is that the card being small in size it doesn't take up much space in the case. Performance is top-notch and stability has been faultless - it just works.
A good buy I feel.
