This 3 channel (3.5CH) 9808 RTR Metal Frame RC helicopter's body is made from high grade materials, the 9808 can tolerate many of the crashes you will encounter when trying to learn how to fly. The frame is not made from plastic; the 9808 is equipped with a full aluminum alloy frame which will certainly protect it.
The 9808 is yet another fantastic helicopter for newbies. It comes built with a metal frame and a built in gyro. This model is specially designed to fly indoors and will provide several hours of enjoyment. The 9808 also comes with flashing LED lights, which makes it really awesome to fly at night time.
This particular model comes completely ready to fly, you'll have a lot of flying space to try out the methods you will at some point pick-up.
The reason why this helicopter is wonderful for the beginner is really because there is a integrated gyro which will help stabilize the flight, so you are ready for a steady and safe lift off, right out of the box. Turn off the lights in the room at night while flying the 9808 to put on an excellent light show, the helicopter has flashing multi-color LED lights to bring awesome colour and light to the room.
This helicopter is a 3 channel control model with in built gyro for more control and stable flight. It’s small enough to manoeuvre round the office or home and has up to 8 minutes flight time per charge. Unlike previous versions of remote control helicopters the Gyro stability makes this pint sized chopper a dream to pilot. The helicopter charges up via a USB cable or via the remote control unit which houses AA batteries.

- Bottom blades not turning - there is a small cog which may have slipped this needs pushing back up.
- If the helicopter has crashed or hit the ceiling often the alignment can be out so check gearing etc.
- These are not faults and and normal to usage of the helicopter.

Made Christmas!
operating system:Mac OSXI wasn't expecting much for £15 but these are like little jewels. Stainless steel pressings, metal parts, strong plastics and surprisingly well crash-proofed (though within limits, obviously). We got two, and while they can be a bit tricky to pair to different channels if you are flying two simultaneously, it's worth persisting (there are three channels available in total). Flying ain't easy, whatever it says on the box, and accuracy in anything other than dead indoor calm is impossible - but again, it's fun practicing.
Couple of comments: it doesn't say anywhere on the box that you need 6xAA batteries for the controller - cue Christmas day scavenge for same.
Also we've had a problem with one of them where the drive gears for one pair of rotors becomes disengaged after a crash, and my son, who has better eyesight and a steadier hand than me (until I've downed my fourth sherry), does something with a safety pin to get it in the air again.
But for the price you can't argue; we'd had £15's-worth of value out of them by Boxing Day! If you've seen these little helicopters but so far resisted the pleas of the child inside you - give in! I can understand why they sold out but I'm keeping an eye open in case they come back on sale. I want more!
Great Value Helicopter
operating system:Not ApplicableReceived mine today and it is superb. Did a little research first because I had been considering purchasing the better known and more expensive Syma S107. This however, is great and performs just as well but is much cheaper. The Chinglish instructions in the box are not ideal so here are a couple of pointers:
When you turn on the IR transmitter the red power light will blink. That's charge mode, so to charge your heli just plug the connector into the 9808 and wait until the green charge light turns off. The 9808 itself should be off while charging.
Once charged, turn on the IR transmitter and move the throttle all the way up and back down; the transmitter is now ready. Turn on the heli and move the throttle a bit once again to train it for channel as A,B or C (yes, the 9808 can be programmed for any channel and isn't locked on just one like most). You'll see the gyro light inside the heli fuse start blinking and it's ready for flight.

Once you are used to the controlls you'll find yourself having competitions on who can land it on the smallest of places!!
Its worth more than you pay for! Erm... Now back to work..

operating system:Mac OSXI am amazed at the quality of this little helecopter for the price. It is really well made, a mix of aluminium panels and very lightweight plastics and is very tough for its small size. it flys very well and with a little practice it is possible to do some good indoor flying with it. It comes with a USB cable so you can charge it from your computer as well as the handset.
Its great fun but very distracting from work :)
