A masterful case, but it doesn't come without faults
operating system:Windows 7If you're reading this comment, chances are that you're looking for a new high-end case to fit your new parts in. You've probably checked some of the expensive CoolerMaster and Antec cases, but something about them puts you off, right? Well, luckily you're in the right place because the Corsair 650D easily makes up for what those cases fail in-- and that is--the balance between design, ergonomics and functionality.
Yes, the 650D is expensive. Yes, the 650D does have it's flaws, but the most important question is, is it still worth the price Corsair ask for and will you regret buying it further down the road? You may be surprised to hear this but the simple answer is, NO. The Corsair 650D is highly overpriced considering there are a handful of equivalentt cases on the market for roughly half of this price tag. However, I can guarantee that you won't regret buying this case even though it costs an arm and a leg. This is a serious case, aimed at serious buyers. People who have been building for years. People who understand the importance of a high-end chassis-- not for people who just like to slap together a bunch of parts with the "who gives a crap how it looks" attitude. Anyway, enough of this nonsense chatter and on to to the faults...
The case has a serious problem. The fan controller makes an annoying humming sound when switched to "Low/Medium" settings. I think this is ridiculous since I paid £140 and recieved a flawed case- a flaw which is quite simply unnaceptable. Luckily Corsair have fixed this issue and the upcoming "revision 2" models should be sorted. So make sure you buy a newer model and not this one. Apparantly, they have shipped a "repair kit" for people like me which solves the noise issue, so I'll be purchasing that shortly.
Also, if you're intending to use a socket 775 motherboard in this case, be aware that some screw holes are missing so while the motherboard won't fall off, it may bend when you're trying to plug expansion cards in. This isn't a problem for newer boards, though. They fit perfectly of course.
On the top of the case is a sliding door for 2.5/3.5" SATA drives. It's too stiff which makes it quite hard opening/closing it. I hurt my fingers in the process.
Seriously, the above two paragraphs probably won't be counted as "faults" but the humming issue is definately a flaw. Apart from that, the case is perfect. I still can't get over the sheer awe and amazement I get when looking at this case. It fact, it's so impressive that you might want to bring your friends over to view it. Seriously, it's an amazing case. I'm so happy with it. Last but not least, I think the fan-controller issue is a pain in the backside, but it's not enough for me to give this product a low rating. 5 out of 5 stars!!
Awesome case!
operating system:Windows 7First time building my own PC....bought Zalman gs1200 first, that case rubbish instructions made no sense some wires weren't even mentioned in the booklet!
I bought this after I got fed up with Zalman, absolute geniuses over at corsair! So simple clean refreshing, this amazing case with soo many interesting and useful features is unbelievable! It has no instruction booklet and I'm a noob at building, even I didn't need any you could see where you had to put what, soooo simple an elegant! They thought of everything my dream case I have now after much research fully committed myself to fully supporting and buying all corsair products for present and future builds! These guys are absolute geniuses! I promise you will not be disappointed if you buy this case! Go corsair!
Great Case!
operating system:Windows 7Ordered on Sunday and delivered the next day at 11 am!
High quality product, screws and other accessories to the motherboard and hard drives and optical drives in the box.
Lots of space for power supply and graphics cards.
Best choice ever. Thanks.
Great Case
operating system:Windows 7Wow! big case, it dwarfs my old antec 900 so make sure you have space to fit this bad boy on or under your desk.
first off, it looks fantastic, understated but has 'presence!' second its a joy to work on, cable managment is so easy its funny and now the inside of my pc looks so neat and clean i cant stop admiring it!
the fans are quiet enough for me, i use a zalman fan controller so no issues about 'buzzing' fans for me.
the whole thing feels quality and im very happy with my purchase.
