Great card
operating system:Windows 7I've had this card for one day, in which time I've tested out all of the latest and most demanding games including Battlefield 2, Metro 2033, COD Black Ops, Fallout New Vegas, Aliens vs Predator. This card runs them all at the highest settings with no issues.
My monitor is 22", therefore I run at a res of 1650 x 1080 widescreen which obvious is less demanding than what many reviews will test them on, but its plenty big enough for me. For the past 3 years I've had an 8800GT, so I've not been able to appreciate all the latest technological advancements in gaming. I'm in awe at just how good graphics have become! Metro 2033 is stunning, and wading through the jungles in Battlefield is spectacular.
I was originally looking at the Radeon 6950 2gb, which is about £30ish more than this. However the performance is near enough the same. With some extra overclocking you can get speeds that make it close to the stock performance of the GTX 570, which is nearly £100 more! Therefore this card is a no brainer, it's the best bang for buck currently available. The super overclocked version of this card also looks like a good option, but that's £28 more.
Bare in mind you need 2 power connectors, however 2 molex to 6 pin connectors are supplied in the box so it doesn't matter if your power supply doesn't have the necessary 6 pin connectors.
Overall I highly recommend this card if you're looking for something capable of running all the newest games in all their glory for around the £200 price range.
Ref Voltage issue
The voltage issue is a bad overclock on behalf of gigabyte.. Obviously someone in the overclocking section needs a slap. When you get the card just drop the core clock to stock 822 (overclocked its at 900) and all your problems will disappear. This card will overcome anything at high setting at 24inch at stock.. Top card.
Just as a matter of interest I have actually overclocked (just to see how far I could push it) up to 950 on the core with upped voltage of course. As with the 460 its VERY overclockable... but at the moment you just don't need it.
SOLID Graphics card
operating system:Windows 7I upgraded from an Nvidia 275GTX. It is a fraction the size and runs mega cool (30C idle, 60C load).
I have not adjusted the clock speeds and I'm using it with 6gb DDR2 800mhz Memory / Intel Q6600 @ 3.0Ghz
The performance is excellent. Overkill for most games. It never drops below 30fps on Crysis 2 @ 1920x1200 maxed (average of 40-50fps)
I almost bought it for ~£202 but I was able to cunningly cancel the order/buy again when I saw it drop to £196.99. Now it has dropped another £10 it seems like the easiest decision ever if you need to upgrade your GPU to something that will last you a long time.
To note, running Crysis 2 in DX11 (when available) and future games like Battlefield 3 will be stretching the 560ti at 1920x1200+ so it isn't invicible. We'll see though. Driver updates/game optimisation and overclocking have potential to cancel this out.
Your best alternative is the ATI 6950 2GB. This card may be more future proof when it's drivers mature but I think the only significant benefits will be at resolutions >1920x1200. I went with Nvidia because I prefer the control panel, stability and quality.
Going to give it 5 stars. You can't beat this card considering it's quality. Small/quiet/stable - with monster performance @ less than £200
Top Card for the money
operating system:Windows 7Brought mine a couple of months ago and i've never had a problem with it.. if anything it's overkill on all current games upto 1920x1080, maybe by the end of the year there will be a release that will push this baby but i doubt it..
The last review i read here was wrong, you do not need to underclock it. The problem some buyers are finding is that the overclock on earlier bios's had the voltage set too low.. this bios can be updated or just use an overclocking tool like MSI afterburner to up the voltage by 50MV to 1000MV.. easy as installing it and moving the slider up a couple of notches.. and you can go alot high than the Gigabyte overclock.. i have mine running at 1050MV 1000MHZ GPU 4800 Effective for Memory and it's very stable and temps never go over 66C.. and at those speeds it's a match for The Gigabyte 560ti SOC card and the MSI 560ti Hawk.. just needs a little tweeking..
Amazing Card which when overclocked can outpace a stock GTX 570.. but those are good overclockers too.
