Mid range gaming PC
operating system:Windows 7For £520 I built a games PC to tibe me over through the cold, dark London winter.
This processor with 4GB RAM and an ATi 6850.
Full HD gaming is an absolute breeze with all the options set to maximum on Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Windows Experience Index gives this CPU a 7.1 (Where the i7 2600 gets only 7.6) and applications load effortlessly and multitasking is a breeze.
This processor represents astounding value for money.
Good low cost chip
operating system:Windows 7For the price range, this is one very good processor. Since I use my newly built PC mostly for games I thought I'd buy this with hopes to eventually upgrade to the i5 2500k or i7, but this has so far handled everything I've thrown at it (even Metro 2033 & Arma 2) admirably, making me reconsider somewhat.
The hyper-threading is also a huge bonus for such a low cost processor.
Great CPU
operating system:Windows 7I bought the CPU for a 1U server build and have been totally happy with it's performance and capabilities.
The best PRO about the chip is it's ultra low power consumption. I clocked the server idling at 35 watts. Incredible. I previously built a server with an AMD Athlon X4 640, and the wattage was double while idling. The i3 2100 is way faster.
If you're building a computer which will be left on at all times then this is the chip for you.
BARGAIN ENTRY LEVEL SANDYBRIDGE PROCESSOR
operating system:Windows 7I was on a tight budget when building this new system for my son and put most of my money into other components, so got this entry level i3 cpu as it was the cheapest 1155 processor.
In the windows experience index this budget cpu scores a pretty impressive 7.1 out of 7.9.
The processor comes out the box at 3.1ghz and i have overclocked it to 3.5ghz with no problems.
A great processor for anyone on a budget.
