WOW Amazing Difference!!!:)
operating system:Windows 7I heard this just launched from Cisco so took the plunge. Replacing my existing router was easy and the software that ships with this allows you to set up stuff like guest access with no confusing codes to remeber - very cool for family and friends that visit. I purchased this as I read it was the fastest on the market - I guess speeds on the internet mainly depends on what you recieve from you service provider however what I have found is I can know get on line in areas of the house which I couldn't before and the gigabit ports are great for transfering HD video to my TV. Infact I've used the 4 gigabit ports to connect to my AV system which consists of a Sony Bravia (ethernet enabled TV), Xbox360, PS3 and Sonos all which paly media flawlessly now. I did think this was a bit of a price to pay for a router but glad I did as I get better overall performance with my all my devices now which also incudes iphone, ipad and printer and would reccommend to everyone!:)
Great Router
operating system:Windows 7Did a minor stress test using my Virgin 50Meg Package. I had 3 x BBC HD films playing on my laptop (Via 5GHz Wifi), torrents AND a 1080p Youtube running on my main PC (Via Gigabit), my fiancee's laptop running Spotify (Via 2.4GHz Wifi) and absolutely no lag. With my DIR 655 I couldn't run BBC HD and Spotify at the same time as torrents.
Fast and reliable, but free usb dongle not worth it
operating system:Windows 7Just switched from my stock Virgin Media Netgear, to this, weirdly it shows poorer signal levels in windows, but yet gives better performance, on 2.4GHz maybe 10-15% better than my Netgear and while the Netgear would regularly freeze and disconnect, this has only happened once on the Cisco, whilst running flat out.
The main reason for the upgrade was the swamping of my wifi by my neighbours with their BT systems swamping the local airwaves, suddenly it must be them feeling the problems, because in my house it's proving faultless.
Unfortunately I can't comment on 5GHz performance, the supplied dongle is so poor, it's registering half the signal level on my media centre PC compared to the very old Linksys I normally use, performance seems to reflect the signal level for 5GHz being close to useless and 2.4GHz worse than a no-name generic dongle I had lying around.
My macbook likes the 5GHz signal, and as this was bought for my wife, she's not complained either, so it must be good.
Basically love the router, but hate the dongle, if you can find a dongle less router cheaper, buy it and spend the difference on decent dongle.
Poor Firmware

Stock firmware sucks and everybody over at Linsys Support Forum agrees.
They have had two updates and fixes a few things, but breaks even more.
Media storage and streaming is useless, 5GHz is a joke, 2.4GHz on par with my old DIR-655.
While a new official firmware is a work in progress, I have flashed to DD-WRT and while media storage and streaming is still being worked on, wireless is working as ok.
