WD30EZRX 3TB Review
operating system:OtherOrdered this drive late on Friday evening for a Saturday delivery - drive was here by 1030, so very impressed with delivery service!
This 3TB was purchased to replace a 1TB model in a Windows Home Server (v1) disk array. On initial installation the drive only showed up as being 750GB in size. It turns out that a) WHS doesn't support 3TB drives natively and b) my motherboard doesn't support 3TB drives.
After installing a PCI SATA card (which recognised the full size of the drive), and a bit of digging around on the 'net I found a guide that would enable me to format the drive as GPT (instead of the usual MBR) and 'fool' WHS into recognising the full size of the drive. Fifteen minutes later and I now had a 3TB drive (formatted capacity around 2.8TB) added into my WHS.
Aside from the problems with WHS this is a great drive, and was delivered quickly and well packaged.

Few notes to people though, BIOS may not pick up this drive. you really need UEFI Bios (new type) and also to format this drive as GPT not MBR as said by the other guy.
Another thing to realise, 1024bits in binary not 1000bits. so as said before 2.7TB Formatted :)
Highly recommended.
Can anyone comment on the RPM?
Are the RPM 5400 correct for this? I thought (looking at other sites) this was 7200. Appreciate if ebuyer can confirm specs. cheers.
