ASUS RT-N56U Black Diamond Dual-Band Wireless-N600 Product Description
The revolutionary new ASUS RT-N56U is the most advanced wireless router available, challenging tradition by dramatically exceeding all expectations. This stylish network enabler combines a series of cutting-edge and powerful technologies to offer you an ideal internet and wireless package, complete with striking design.
Dual-band for Lag-free Entertainment
Double your wireless performance and bandwidth with simultaneous 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands speed up to 300Mbps concurrently. While basic internet applications like browsing or file downloading can occur in 2.4GHz, wireless HD content streaming takes place in the 5GHz band at the same time, so both achieve optimized speeds and you enjoy smooth, buffer-free HD content streaming.
Gigabit Internet Surfing with Hardware NAT
Equipped with a capable hardware NAT acceleration engine and built-in Gigabit Ethernet, it gives you full Gigabit internet performance, making its WAN to LAN throughput up to 2-5 times that of traditional software-based NAT Gigabit routers.
Powerful Online Multitasking at up to 300,000 Data Sessions
Support for a massive data pipeline of up to 300,000 data sessions means the RT-N56U has around 20 times the networking capacity of other high session routers, so multiple data transfer jobs don't slow down even during heavy load.
Plug-n-surf and Hassle-free Management
ASUS EZ UI offers you an intuitive router setup without read manuals. What's more, you can enjoy simultaneous printing and scanning by connecting an All-in-one printer to the router via the USB port. Also connect external hard disks to enjoy instant file sharing with family and friends!
Ai Radar Optimized and Reliable Wireless Coverage
This unique and efficient design drastically increases wireless signal coverage and quality without increasing power consumption. It intelligently adapts beam patterns to local conditions to enable higher-gain directional signal emulation. Ai Radar shapes signals to offer the strongest possible output, transforming what may be a weak omnidirectional signal to a stronger unidirectional one, improving throughput at same time.
Others blast signals everywhere, leading to signal loss. ASUS RT-N56U locks the wireless clients to provide dedicated and stable signals.
Highlights of the Asus RT-N56u Black Diamond Dual-Band Wireless N Gigabit Router:
- Flexible dual-band lag-free entertainment
- Gigabit internet surfing with hardware NAT(While ISP support)
- Powerful Online Multitasking at up to 300,000 Data Sessions
- Twin USB ports enable multi-role usability

Fast
operating system:Mac OSXLast week i set off a time machine backup, it took 21 hours so i decided to upgrade my Lan and Wifi.
I am with Be internet and like most others have the Thomson TG585, its not a bad router but its still wireless G and only 100mb Lan, looking at the laptops and phones i have they are all wireless N, you are never going to get the advertised speeds but its still around 4x faster.
Unit turned up last week, a logged in to the Thomson router and set it up in bridge mode so its just acting as a modem, the Thomson is a great modem and is faster than the Draytek 2820 i tried. Then i plugged in the Asus RT-N56U and in 5 mins i had the internet running and both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks up and running.
Its a very good looking unit and small than i was expecting, the only down side is the network connections are on the side if you use the stand and have it upright, i have laid it down and the ports are now at the back, you do get a flat Cat 5 cable that would be unseen but i have some large Cat6 cables that don't have much movement in them.
The GUI is easy, i did read some reviews saying it was slow but i have yet to see this, the GUI falls in to 2 areas, simple or complex so you can pick how deep you want to go in to the settings.
I got this unit down to speed and that you can run both Wifi networks at the same time, i keep the 5GHz for the faster network and phones, ipads ect sit on the 2.4GHz, also i live in a block of flats with many wifi networks all running, out of about 35 networks in the area im the only one running in the 5GHz band so i dont have any problems in speed.
Yes it is a more expensive router and you still need a modem but its very fast, great reviews and looks great.
Great router at a great price
operating system:Windows 7For the price this is a great bit of kit.
I'm using it with a Draytech Vigor modem for ADSL and it works flawlessly.
Device was really easy to configure, the gui is very user friendly
I've had it for over a month now and I've never had to reboot it and the internet has had 1 brief outage, both of which were a daily occurance with my previous router.
I've got 11g/n and 11a/n running on seperate SSIDs (something a review on another site said wasn't possible).
I also have it running DHCP on a different subnet (again something the same review said wasn't possible)
only negative as some other reivews have said is that the cables come out the right hand side when its standing up which detract a bit from its looks
One of the best Wireless Routers i've ever owned, period.
operating system:Windows 7Setup was a doodle, i simply plugged my Virgin modem in, logged into 192.168.1.1, auto detected my WAN connection and bob's your uncle!
Next important step i took was to upgrade the firmware which improved the speed of applying new settings by about 500%
After the firmware update, the built in software is just a joy to use and now i have prioritized traffic with gaming, net and voip put first.
In terms of signal, i tested it with the 300mb wireless in my netbook and on 2.4ghz i was getting full signal through 3 solid brick walls.
I really can't fault this piece of equipment at all, especially at its cheap price compared to the other dual band competition!
Amazing price for this product
operating system:Not ApplicableI bought this router from another vendor for significantly more (£116) and I still thought that was great value for a brilliant piece of kit. This current price from ebuyer is absurdly good - I really did briefly ponder getting another one just as a spare.
I'm on o2 broadband and decided one day to upgrade to a better (ie more expensive) package purely to get the wireless n router, which I promptly discovered was rubbish (worse than the old wireless g box). So eventually I took the plunge and bought this unit from that other vendor after reading excellent reviews from multiple sites for it - after all, paying £100+ when you get a router free is a fairly tricky decision for me.
When it arrived, I set the o2 IV box to bridge (simple instructions on the internet if you google it) and plugged in the Asus router. Worked straight off the bat, I was amazed. Editted some settings to give priority to my machine (my wife's facebook-dedicated laptop and Tab really don't need the bandwidth!) and found the whole process simple and clear.
Reception is outstanding. My previous o2 wireless IV box based on the ground floor had trouble getting to the first floor of my house (old victorian job with solid walls), but this gets there with full signal strength and we haven't experienced a dropout yet. Also gets to the master bedroom on the second floor and across the building with very decent signal, perfectly adequate for youtube streaming, browsing, etc.
Highly recommended!
