Warning
The photograph shows an optical drive installed - The server does not come with one... as per the small print in the specs which I have just read... I now have to find one to install the OS!
Very nicely built piece of kit though...
On the plus side... It does comes with three empty drive caddies that you can just put your own drives in and not the blanking plate/false caddies I was expecting!
Solid Server
operating system:OtherThis is a really well put togther mini server, its got a good hard drive mounting system that can take upto four hard drives. The caddies for the drives are screwless and the the sata connector is also SAS compatible. The cabling for the four drives terminates with a mini SAS/SATA plug that fits onto the main board. However the onboard raid chip is software based and also only supports SATA drives. I wanted hardware based SAS raid so I bought the LSI sas card from ebuyer and that has worked fine and supports upto 8 drives. Paired with some 15 k SAS drives and an extra 4 Gig of ram this baby is flying.
