Enthusiast grade keyboard!
operating system:Windows 7Put simply - the K90 is an extremely good board! Firstly, ignore all the complete crap you may have read about the 'not all mechanical' switches destroying this board and not making it worth buying - ultimately 99.9% of your keystrokes will be on mechanical, ie - the keys that matter are mechanical.
====== What is good about the K90? ======
- Build quality is top notch. Strong, hard wearing, very thick cable with solid fitting (you could probably tow a car with it). The keys are raised, which makes them very accessible for cleaning etc.
- Wrist rest is fantastic - soft to touch, hard wearing and rigid. (Coming from someone who doesn't like wrist rests, this is a massive bonus point to the K90)
- The backlighting is good - bright, customisable and permeates well through the majority of keycaps.
- The mechanical Cherry MX Red's take a little bit of getting use to, but they are relatively quiet (in comparison to other Cherry MX's) and are a dream to type on and game with. I can already see myself never going back to rubber dome again.
- Features!!!! Multimedia keys are simple but are all you need, the volume slider is ace. Anti-ghosting means no 'keyboard's fault' excuses when hardcore gaming, the macro keys / record feature is VERY easy to use and change on the fly.
====== What is bad about the K90? ======
- OK, so although the MX Red's are quieter compared to other mechanical switches, the K90 is still a comparatively noisy keyboard - purely due to the keys bottoming out on a brushed aluminium underplate. Just check out a youtube of someone typing on the K90 to hear for yourself, but ultimately it is no noisier than any other mechanical board and is far quieter than the Cherry MX blue boards like the Razer Black Widow etc.
- The backlighting does not permeate as well through certain keycaps (in particular the number 1-9, and F Function keys) however this may be a design choice by Corsair, as it basically just highlights the Qwerty keyblock, + numpad more than the rest of the board.
- The keycaps are in a matte finish. Personally I absolutely love this, as it makes the caps look amazing, and feel great to touch. However some may see this as a drawback, as any 'matte' peripheral owner will know, matte is hard to keep clean as it is fairly unforgiving - showing up any minor blemishes / marks / food / grease.
============ Conclusion ===========
Overall the K90 gets *****5 Stars, for extremely good build quality, design, features, Cherry MX Red's, and overall value for money compared to other gaming mechanical boards. Forget about the minor drawbacks, the K90 is a top notch board and you will be hard pushed to find a better mechanical gaming keyboard out there right now that matches the specs.

Like any people I thought a keyboard, was a keyboard, was a keyboard..... how wrong I was. Firstly if you haven't used a mechanical keyboard you will not understand the massive improvement in feel and response.... you have to experience it to appreciate it. For gaming it brings a very noticeable improvement in keystroke responsiveness that gives at the edge to the WASD user that other keyboards I have owned didn't come close to, due to the 2mm ride of the keystroke.
Add that to the 54 programmable macro keys and the easy to use but comprehensive interface of the programmable software features and you are looking at the best gaming keyboard around for my money!! I have ditched my old Logitech G19 for this keyboard, and I thought that was the bees' knees... turns out ...this is much much better!
