Corsair Hydro Series H40 Hydro Socket AM2, AM3, Product Description
Liquid CPU cooling has traditionally been a potentially messy experience and priced to make sense only for highly overclocked systems. The fact is that liquid CPU cooling is a good idea for just about every PC — it can improve reliability and extend the life of your processor. Hydro Series liquid CPU coolers are closed-loop, maintenance free solutions that install in just a few minutes. If you're not trying to break overclocking records and you're just looking for simple and reliable cooling for your gaming rig, take a look at the H40.
Quiet, Compact and Compatible.
Liquid cooling efficiency and a custom-designed fan ensure operation that's both cooler and quieter than most stock CPU fans. The small form factor and flexible tubing allow the Hydro Series H40 to fit in most PC gaming systems. It works with most modern AMD and Intel sockets, and the illustrated Quick Start Guide makes it easy, even if you're a cooling novice.

Good item but tricky to install.
operating system:Windows 7Buyers beware ! Reading the description above, e-buyer claim 'minutes to install'...For novices, set yourself aside a couple of hours.
You will probably need to remove the motherboard from the case, remove the CPU heatsink and fan and then remove the heatsink/fan retainer from the motherboard. Then its time to fit the retainer supplied, put the motherboard back in the case and then fit the water cooler to the CPU.
The instructions supplied are lacking detail but if followed you shouldn't have any problems.
The other review said that using the radiator fan as an intake fan (as advised in the instructions) caused his temperatures to hit the roof. I've followed the instructions and have had no problems, my CPU is running at 30c idle and 42c under full gaming. Case temperature doesn't go above 36c and I've got no case fans. I'm using a Phenom 2 X2 at 3.6Ghz.
H40 review
operating system:Windows 7Got this cooler to solve a problem i've been having with the AMD plastic surround that you clamp the heat sink to...i've had 2 surrounds break and this dose away with that particular part.
I was unsure just how much benefit i would get from this cooler as the one i had previous was running between 25oc idle to 45oc gaming/video encoding...once this was installed the idle temp dropped to 20oc and gaming/encoding i've yet to see it exceed 30oc
The instructions recommends that you have the fan blowing into the case through the radiator but tbh that's just personal preference, i have it blowing out of the case...i done this as the case temps have always been cool and it keeps the air flow going straight through.
For the cheapest version of this cooler i am well pleased with the results and would recommend it to anyone.
Good cooling performance, installation is a pain in NZXT Hush
operating system:Windows 7This cooler was a bit of a pain to install in my NZXT Hush case. The reason being is that the radiator is wide enough so it sticks on the power supply in order to fit and then screwing it on is quite difficult but it can be done.
I wasn't very happy with that arrangement nor was I happy with the instructions that said to use the fan as an intake fan.. big mistake.. I used my back exhaust fan as an intake fan and my front intake fan as an exhaust fan.. temps went way up and everything was frying in the case. CPU at idle was at 55C and close to 70C on Prime95.Clearly there was something wrong there..
*** WORD OF WARNING ***
When you install the cooling retainer(after you've installed the backplate) make sure that you only screw it on just enough to stay in place. The cooler itself has to be rotated clockwise and when its in place to lock then you tighten the screws all the way in.
Anyway.. I removed the screws and deployed some rubber gromets to fit my undervolted Noctua 120mm fan back in place as an exhaust fan and used cable ties to keep the cooler in place. I also used an extra Scythe Sliptream 120mm (than runs at 1200RPM) on the radiator to improve the airflow and restored the front intake fan.
That made a world of difference. Temps went way down.. on my Q6600 (stock speed) with fans running at 1000 and 1200 RPM I get 40C on idle and 57C max on Prime95 running 2 hours straight.
Perhaps in the future I'll replace the thermal paste with my own but for now I'm happy with its performance. Plus the thought of re-installing the cooler on the CPU fills me with dread..
I've taken a star off for the retarded instructions, the noisy Corsair fan that came with it and also the installation of the cooler that was a traumatic experience. Can't fault its performance though. Next step is to try overclocking..
