To answer above
To answer the question above going purely from the information (spec) given above. This machine should be able to play most recent games on Max or just under at a decent resolution (BF3 and Crysis).
I run a 2560*1440 and with this spec i dont think it would run on Max with this resolution.
If your resolution is 1080p or lower you should be fine! I would advise buying a decent cooler (D14 Noctua) and overclocking the CPU as the i7 range are much more capable then their stock values (an average of 4.3Ghz!)
Advice
The system I have just built which makes this look like a baby.
2x GeForce GTX 580 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z Intel Z68 DDR3 Motherboard
Intel Core i7-2700K 3.50GHz Socket LGA1155 Team
OVER CLOCKED TO 5.40GHz stable!
Corsair HX 1000W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply
16GB DDR3 PC3 17000C9 2133MHz DualQuad Channel Kit
Cooler Master HAF X Gaming Tower Case
Corsair Force Series 3 240GB SATA 6Gbs Solid State Drive
Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA 6Gbs Hard Drive
Pioneer BDR S06XLB 12x BluRay RW 16x DVD Drive
Antec Kuhler H2O 920 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Scythe Kaze Master Ace 5.25inch Fan Controller
Corsair HX 1000W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply
Total price = £2038
ps. The hp system here is not bad however my argument is if you want a highend system then you have go for the best within your budget and you have to build it yourself. The reason for this is: If any retailer sold the system I have stated above then I'm sure they will charge a minumum of £2500, and secondly the preconfigured systems sold by retailers might have most of the components as highend but not everything i.e. might have fast processor & RAM & Graphics card but with a cheap power supply which means that adding any further PCIE components will require a higher capacity PSU. So these are things to consider before purchasing a gaming system.
Overpriced
Poor graphics card (for the price), poor processor (not a 2600k so not significantly overclockable), not a great amount of RAM, teeny tiny SSD for boot drive. For the money you're paying to buy this, you could build a PC that would blow this one away.
E.g (using prices and products from ebuyer.com as of 29/03/12)
Antec P280 Case - £104.43
Corsair 650W HX Modular PSU - £89.34
Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 - £78.82
Intel Core i5 2500k - £169.99
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 - £14.57
2x G-Skill 8GB (16B / 4 DIMMs total) - £87.87
Corsair 240GB Force 3 SSD - £209.99
Seagate 3TB Barracuda Hard Drive - £134.99
And for the coup de grace:
MSI GTX 680 2GB - £425.93
Total inc. Vat (without delivery) - £1315.60.
The computer I just listed includes the best graphics card on the market today, the most overclockable CPU that Intel has made (in my opinion), more hard drive space and frankly, will run ANYTHING you throw at it for probably the next two years. And if it doesn't in 2 years time, you can put another GTX 680 in it, when they're cheap (you'd have to upgrade the power supply though as well) and still be good for another year or so.
Frankly, if you have £1300 to spend on buying a Gaming PC, and you're thinking about buying this. Don't. Buy the computer I just listed instead. They're easy to put together, and its simply so much cheaper to do it yourself.
The only drawback to the system I just listed is that you could use a better power supply (the one I put in is adequate), and it comes without an operating system. Windows 7 is fairly cheap anyway.
But yeah. Don't buy this.
Advice
Has anyone bought one of these? I am considering it for a gaming pc, so will it play all the latest games at highest settings or should I be looking at something else, thanks for any advice.
