Bargin
operating system:Not ApplicableI remember when an 8 port hub cost £100. This is silly speed for silly money. Works great with a Netgear gigabit NIC also from ebuyer and onboard abit IC7-MAX3 NIC. Make sure your patch cables are Cat5e or better. Brilliant.
Fast
operating system:Not ApplicableNot a lot of money for a quick switch and the usual superb netgear quality and reliability.
Mine is attached to a mix of Cat5 and Cat5e cabling at home, on runs of no more than 40 feet
or so. The switch and a couple of netgear GA302T gigabit cards - resolved problems with games that are bandwidth hungry and made image backups over my network considerably quicker. At all other times, you probably wont notice much of difference when compared with a 10/100 setup.
For those with hardwired lans, if your Cat5 installation is up to standard, then I wouldnt worry about using Cat5e cabling.
Jumbo Frames
For others looking for a cheap switch with Jumbo Frame support both the Netgear GS105 & GS108 support packet size up to 9216. (I have not bought one, probably will get this or the 108).

I own a Netgear FR314 Firewall Router that I am very happy with, Netgear gave me a free connection upgrade from 9 users to 49 after it was superseeded :o).
Cheap, fast and flawless
operating system:Not ApplicableI have one of these running as part of a gigabit-backbone in an organisation of 80-odd PCs and Macs. I plugged it in and forgot about it; it’s worked flawlessly ever since.
