Apple iPad pre-orders 'reach 120,000 in a day'

Pre-orders for the much-anticipated Apple iPad are believed to have reached 120,000 in just 24 hours.

After going on sale in the US on March 12th, consumers were able to reserve one of the gadgets, Slashgear reports.

Although the Wi-Fi-only version appears to have been most popular so far, demand for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models were "just about equally split".

Slashgear, which is a technology news website, said this suggests people are not afraid to shell out for the extra storage space.

Those in the US who are lucky enough to have pre-ordered an iPad will be able to get their hands on the gadget on April 3rd.

UK stockists are set to offer the device from later on that month.

Of course, the iPad has been whetting techie appetites since it was unveiled during a recent Apple keynote speech.

It is claimed to be the best way to watch video, look at photos, email and browse the web thanks to a 9.7-inch backlit LED screen with Multi-Touch capabilities.
