Taiwanese firm BenQ is set to launch a new eBook reader that features a 6-inch touch screen electronic paper display and can support a wide range of file formats.
The K60, BenQ's first of many nReader range devices, measures 175 x 122 x 11mm and weighs about 220 grams.
The touch screen, using SiPix Microcup technology, has a native resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, with 167 dots per inch and the capability to display 16 grey scales.
The device can support a wide range of formats, including ePub, PDF, TXT and HTML files as an eBook reader, alongside displaying JPEG, BMP, GIF and PNG images. It also boast playback for MP3s.
The K60 has 2GBs of built-in memory - supporting about 4,000 books - and a microSD slot that accepts memory cards up to 16GB in size.
It also has a micro USB port, a full-size USB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm audio jack, along with built-in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi.
the nReader will initially be launched in Taiwan and China, but BenQ is also looking for partners in Europe.
