Google boosts content with full TV shows

Computer shoppers have been offered more access to television content this week following a new announcement from Google.

The search engine company has revealed that it has launched a new part of its online video sharing site YouTube that contains access to a range of full-length TV programmes.

It explained that by clicking on Shows, surfers will be able to access a whole range of well-known titles from the BBC, Channel 4, ITN, Al Jazeera and many more providers.

Some of the series that are currently listed include Jamie at Home, Peep Show, Dead Ringers, Baywatch, Hollyoaks and Day of the Triffids.

A clips section has also been included that shows segments from other popular programmes like QI, Spooks, Top Gear, Mr Bean, The Mighty Boosh and Eastenders.

Patrick Walker, YouTube's director of video partnerships, said: "The Shows section of the site will make it easier for users to discover videos from the biggest names in British broadcasting."

Earlier this year, YouTube made more premium music video content available through a partnership with Universal Music Group.
