Imation's new external hard drive with a storage capacity of 1.5TB and a USB wireless facility has been released, the firm announced.
Based on its Apollo external hard drive platform, the Pro WX Wireless USB drive comes in a 3.5inch form-factor and connects to PCs and Macs.
The wireless facility operates on a one-to-one basis with a receiver plugged into a desktop or notebook PC or Mac's USB port.
This one-to-one connection minimises signal interference and secures data when in a range of up to 30 feet.
It offers transfers at 15MB/s at USB 2.0 level.
Equipped with an integrated stand for horizontal and vertical orientation, the Pro WX also has an indicator to update users about data processes, and a sleep mode which conserves energy. Using the backup sync buttons, automatic backup of data, photos, music and videos is possible.
It claims to be the world's first wireless USB external hard drive, promising backup for a typical CD in 50 seconds and space to store up to 30,000 photos or 750 hours of video.
