Microsoft is set to disappoint many potential Kinect buyers after clarifying its voice recognition support system for the device.
MCV had announced in August, based on the information that Microsoft provided at Gamescon - that Kinect would not support voice recognition. Microsoft however, denied these without further explanation of how Kinect would support region-specific requirements.
A Microsoft spokesperson however, recently revealed to Eurogamer Spain that the device would only provide support for three languages - namely English, Mexican Spanish and Japanese.
Other regions that do not fall into any of these categories will have to wait until spring next year when Kinect will be updated for language recognition. Before that is in place, a system will be implemented whereby all other countries that do not fall under the language category provided by Kinect will be actively locked out.
This means that even if you speak perfect English or Spanish but come under a country that is not supported by the Kinect voice recognition, you will be blocked out until Kinect works on the system next year.
