LG unveils ultra-thin X300 notebook

LG has introduced its newest ultra-thin portable notebook - the X300.

It was showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show in Los Angeles as LG's "new flagship mobile computing device for 2010".

The notebook has an 11.6in LCD screen, is only 17.5mm thick and weighs as little as 970 grams. It is powered by the 2.0 GHz Intel Menlow platform, and offers up to 2GB memory and 128GB solid-state drive.

Connectivity is provided through an embedded 3G modem chipset, which supports a range of networks, while the LG Smart Pack software suite claims to enable even novices to use the system.

A two-cell pack can give up to seven hours of battery life, the firm said, adding that the fanless design makes the X300 extremely quiet to run.

Additional features include a 1.3-megapixel webcam with a You-Cam viewer and SRS TruSurround HD sound.

The manufacturer said the device will be released worldwide soon, but has not announced the dates or pricing details.
