Matrox unveils new graphics cards

Matrox Graphics has announced the release of M9188 PCIe x16 Octal graphics card as well as M9128 LP PCIe x16 DualHead DisplayPort graphics card.

The leading manufacturer of specialised graphics solutions said that Matrox M9188 PCIe x16 can support eight DisplayPort or DVI Single-Link outputs from a single workstation and also can be grouped with another M9188 to drive up to 16 displays.

The device, which runs on both Microsoft Windows XP and Linux, features 2GB of memory and up to 2560x1600 resolution.

Its advanced desktop management features, including independent or stretched desktop modes, is expected to be useful in driving energy, transportation, process control, financial trading, and other critical tasks with exceptional performance.

Ron Berty, business development manager, Matrox Graphics, says: "The M9188 is designed specifically for professional monitoring environments that require visualisation of large amounts of data at once to enhance mission-critical decision making.

"The expansive multi-monitor configuration allows system operators to accurately manage energy grids or train dispatch applications, while ensuring maximum performance across all displays."

The M9128 LP PCIe x16, which supports two displays, comes with 1GB of memory and sports up to 2560x1600 resolution.

Both M9128 LP and M9188 will be available by the end of the year and costs £154 ($259) and £1,193 ($1,995) respectively.
