A test release of Google Chrome's latest upgrade equipped with geolocation support has been made available for download.
Users can download the Google Chrome 5.0.342.1 for Windows, Mac and Linux, as developers hope its new features, including the geolocation support in Chrome 5.0, will be tested effectively.
Google has now caught up with Mozilla, which already offers geolocation capabilities on Firefox. Chrome and Firefox both allow the browser to find and report the location of the end user worldwide.
The two firms are using the same Geolocation application programming interface (API).
HTML5 has a new feature called Browser GeoLocation, which pinpoints the user's location. By using the Geolocation API, websites get exact location from browsers such as Firefox 3.5, 3.6 and later, and now Chrome 5.
Websites are able to find out a user's position as long as an application supporting the Geolocation API is used when browsing.
