Plextor has released the PlexEasy - a compact DVD/CD writer - in the UK.
Featuring a built-in USB port and SD/MMC card reader, the device enables people to
transfer and back-up data from a wide range of gadgets without the need for a computer.
Compatible with mass storage devices like external hard disks, mp3 players and flash drives, the PlexEasy is capable of achieving up to 8x writing speeds.
Available to purchase now, the writer also has Picture Transfer Protocol technology that allows people to back-up photos straight from their smartphone or digital camera.
"Users can even check the status of active transfers using the integrated LCD screen. So, with just a simple touch of a button, invaluable memories can be stored safely or shared with friends and loved ones," the firm notes.
Last March, the company unveiled its M2S range of solid state drives, which features a Marvell 88SS9174 control chip and comes in storage capacities of 256, 128 and 64 GB.
