Sony has announced that it will launch a new line-up of 3D television in the UK market this June, complete with two sets of active shutter specs and a 3D emitter.
Describing 3D TV as "the next great consumer experience", the electronics giant said that it intends to liberate 3D from the confines of movie theatres.
The edge-lit LED backlit LX900 TVs will be available in 40", 46", 51" and 60" screens. While the 60" version will cost around £4,325, the 40" unit will come with a price tag of about £2,130.
Also, the entry level HX800 set will see prices starting from £1,630. However, customer would need buy the emitter and specs separately. Other 3D-compatible sets include the HX700, HX900 and NX900.
It is thought that the success of 3D films like Avatar has boosted hopes for 3D television.
Other big brands like Samsung, LG and Panasonic have also been expected to release their 3D televisions in the UK soon.
