Electronics giant Sony has announced a new feature allowing viewers to watch online TV shows on their television.
Bravia Internet Video will feature on Bravia TVs, Blu-ray Disc players and Blu-ray home cinema systems from the start of 2010.
It will free viewers from the limitations of TV scheduling by offering internet-based TV services direct to their television.
The Japanese firm said that increasing numbers of people are watching content on their PCs.
Nicholas Barendson, head of category marketing at Sony UK, said: "This trend keeps growing and consumers are increasingly enjoying more on-demand video online.
"However, watching full-length TV programmes on a PC, hunched over a screen can be a solitary experience. Bringing on-demand IP content to the TV is allowing consumers to share these viewing experiences with a greater degree of ease and simplicity."
