Toshiba has unveiled the world's fastest Secure Digital (SD) memory card, capable of writing up to 80MB per second.
The new SDHC UHS-I Card, compliant with SD Memory Card Standard Ver. 3.0 UHS 104, will come with Content Protection for Recordable Media (CPRM) technology and will feature capacities of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB.
The SD card will allow a maximum write speed of 95MB, making it the fastest memory card currently in the market. It will also provide the normal SD interfaces, which are 3.3V signal voltage for the DS mode and the HS mode. They can be operated on SDHC host devices which use SD Memory Card Standard Ver. 2.0.
The Japanese manufacturer has also announced the release of the world's first microSDHC UHS-I Cards which will be compliant with SD 3.0, UHS50, featuring storage capacities of 4GB, 8GB and 16GB.
The microSDHC UHS-I Cards will also be CPRM copy-protected and come with 3.3V signal voltage (DS and HS mode) interfaces and can be used in microSDHC host devices compliant with the SD 2.0.
The microSDHC cards will allow up to 40MB per second of read speed and 20MB per second of write speed.
Toshiba will start mass production of SDHC UHS-I Cards and will start sample shipments of the microSDHC UHS-I Cards this November.
