The Verbatim Blu-ray BD-R 25GB 6x has up to five times the capacity of a standard DVD-R, according to the manufacturer.
Its 25GB storage facility is the equivalent to holding 4,800 5MB photos, which could be ideal for those who have taken lots of pictures on their summer holiday.
Torsten Leye, marketing manager optical of Verbatim EUMEA, said its Hard Coat technology disc surface can protect from scratches, fingerprints and dust.
He added: "Thanks to the hard coat protective layer our customers can be confident they have media of the highest quality."
Mr Leye also stated that Verbatim is looking to bring triple-layer 100GB capacity discs, which are expected to be available by Spring 2011.
The device comes with a MABL inorganic recording layer, which will be suitable for "superb" recording quality, the producer noted.
Other similar offerings from the manufacturer include the Verbatim BD-R SL LTH Type 25GB, which has "extremely long" archival life.
