Nice solid unit.... but note....
os:
Windows XPThis comes with a power supply and NO cables. For 2 PC's you will need three 130568 DVI cables, and two 130579 USB cables (if you don't already have these). Otherwise, a good quality unit in a case which won't make the cables drag the switch off the desk ! Also, note that the unit will switch using keyboard hotkey combinations.
Best thing I have bought in a long time.
This switcher works as advertised and involves no installation of any software. I can now either view my laptop or my desktop machine on my big flatscreen display without having to fiddle about with cables, very nice.
what can i say
os:
Windows Vistait came.. i opened the box, oh heck no cables ok so i went and brought those, i fitted the cables and , well it does exactly what it says on the box, absolutely first class piece of kit, well worth that little extra even if it is not supplied with the cables which can be an expence in themselves dependant on where you get them from but otherwise no complaints from me.
Works well but needs detail on compatability
os:
Windows VistaI bought one of these to connect my work laptop and my home desktop. The laptop has VGA output and the desktop has DVI-d outputs.
This box doesnt fully support this setup, which I thought is a fairly common setup as it wont switch the monitors (everything else works)
If you have two digital outputs then you're ok and this is a great switch - I get no delay on my microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard on switching and the hotkey access is fast
Read on for more details, otherwise buy something else!!
This switch has dvi-i connectors and I dont have the correct cables to test all combinations but it appears that the box cannot deal with switching between analogue and digital signals (as with my setup). A detailed google will uncover an online mag review stating the same.
Luckily as my monitor has both analogue and digital inputs I am switching using the KVM for the K and M bit plus the USB hub to share a printer and I connect the monitor direct to each source and use the monitor buttons to switch. If and when I get a laptop with a digital output I will be able to use this fully, but its a lot of money just to share a keyboard and mouse
