Good replacement
os:
Windows XPI used one of the these to replace the integrated heatsink/fan on the northbridge chipset of my Abit KV7 when it failed, as a original replacement is no longer available.
Keeps it nice and cool, no extra cooling required, but I do have very good airflow through my case. Perfect for silent PC enthusiasts and simple to fit.
NB: It's NOT designed to be used on integrated graphics chipsets.
awesome

Not Applicablegreat value
they sent me the taller blue ones
this is a great price for a zalman north bridge under half the price of other shops
Fiddly installation
os:
Windows XP(Blue taller heatsink supplied)
I ordered this tacked onto another order without knowing if it would actually fit my MSI K9N neo.
The revision of the board I have has a long heatsink with fan, but luckily there are also mounting holes for this square heatsink. There wasn't much clearance left between this and the graphic card sink on this motherboard.
The Later V3 revision of the K9N neo, which I also own, comes with a much nicer silent heatsink, but this fits securely over my now fanless northbridge.
Fine - but fiddly

Windows XPEbuyer forums work! I noticed the comments on here about the orange heat sink picture when ordering and went to the forums. Notified Will the admin and its now the proper blue picture rather than the old orange one.
The box contained one heat sink, one small tube of thermal paste, 3 little silver brackets, 3 small screws, three bolts, three black push clips and instructions.
Ordered 2 of these, only bothered fitting one to my rig:
Mobo: P5N-E SLI
Case: Antec 900
CPU FAN: Arctic Freezer 7 Pro
The P5N-E sli doesnt come with a south-bride chip. It has one on the north-bridge which I was going to replace but didnt bother
as I have an AF7 pro which sits on top of it which would of meant having to take it off, Ill probably get around to it in a few months when I do re0seat it.
You'd need three hands to get the minute bolt and screw through the tiny hole. Luckily I had a pair of pliers. I used them to hold the little bolt in place. Put the tiny screw through the hold and then used a screw driver to get the bolt on.
Once you had the screw in you had to put the little black things into the hold with a fair bit of pressure.
Once you did that you had to leave it loose enough to make sure you that you could get the little black clips through into the motherboard holes.
When you had them lined up enough you could tighten them and go about putting some thermal grease onto the bottom. I had some Arctic silver lying around so I used that instead of the supplied stuff. I used one of those fake credit cards you get through the post from capital ones and spread the grease out very thinly. Then popped it onto the chipset.
It dropped the mobo temperature by 2-3 degrees, not bad for a small investment and an improvement over no cooler!
Other than being fiddly its a good buy! Thanks ebuyer.

Installation Blues
os:
Windows XPJust installed this and still testing with prime 95, seems ok at moment. I had some artic silver , so i used that instead of supplied compound. However, as I have a Abit Nf 7 and Antec case, to fit I had to remove the motherboard to access the plastic lugs so I could remove the existing heatsink, aka major pc heartsurgery and pain .
my tip is your like me just trying to run quieter and cooler, change the fans and the heatsink at the same time as with all the cable routing concerns it is very time consuming, re cabling the case, unless i missed something and someone knows how to get the lugs out without the access required to the back of the pc, anyway looks cool! (currently mobo is 28c under prime 95.)
Good upgrade from noisy stock fans
os:
Windows XPA good piece of kit if your stock fan is making a racket as mine was. As another reviewer mentions, it is important to have some kind of airflow past the heatsink. Mine is used in conjuction with the Zalman CNPS6000-ALCU Flower Cooler. The Zalman fan blows on both the CPU and Motherboard heatsinks.
It is rather fiddly to install, you'll need patience, especially if trying to retro-fit it.
All in all, this product is one more step towards a quiet PC.
Works - kind of

Not ApplicableOK, so the stock fan on my Asus motherboard gave up the ghost so I thought I'd give this a whirl. I've read others have had no problems but I found that on it's own it doesn't offer enough cooling. My machine kept BSOD'ing on me especially when playing games. The solution was to place a case fan right next to it to circulate the air. Works fine and completely silent.
The picture is of NB32J
Just a comment that this picture is of the NB32J, not the NB47J. The NB47J is another 50% taller (47mm instead of 32mm), and therefore better if you're struggling to catch the breeze in the case.
I wonder which one ebuyer are actually supplying???? The specifications are for 47J not the 32. Please let us know.
Illustration wrong- title correct
I received a ZM-NB47J (anodised in blue), not the currently depicted model. Ignore the photo, the title of this product is what you should receive.
Haven't got round to installing it yet, so I can't really rate it.
