Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard

Very stylish keyboard to use for my computer. There are many buttons at the top for Messenger, etc which are very handy if you like quick and easy access to your media controls, volume controls and folders. Also, there are 5 favourite buttons which you can use to set your favourite websites or programs.

The zoom slider button comes in handy with Word documents, and is simple to use.

The keys are very soft to type on and are quiet. Plus the keyboard comes in a stylish colour, so overall I'm glad I bought this keyboard.

Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard

I purchased one last week and am pretty pleased with it. It has quite a few extra buttons (as in the picture) and the silver works quite nicely with my silver Sony laptop.

The keypress is not as 'clicky' as I like but that's a personal preference.

I have one major issue. The MS Intellitype software required to run the extra buttons has hijacked my Sony laptop's keyboard even when not plugged in. This means I can not use laptop keys to swich to external displays or use volume etc when using the Sony at home or at a presentation.

I have uninstalled Intellitype which means that not all keys will function. If this keyboard is for a desktop machine it won't be a problem.

4 stars as the MS software lets it down.

a great media keyboard

good: this keyboard has a bunch of extra function keys, they only ones i don't use are the log off, sleep and the zoom slider. I have assigned the favorite keys to my fav websites, saves a lot of time. The media buttons are also very handy for use with media player.

bad: occasionally the favorite keys will ask me to reassign the favorite key i just pressed. don't know if this is a software problem or what, it happens every few weeks. also i find the keys a bit stiff compared to other keyboards, slows down my typing a tad.

Not for gaming

The good:
Very nice looking keyboard, fits in nicely with the current silver and black fashion for PC hardware. The extra keys are very useful, and the MS key customisation tools are very easy to use and quite powerful - most anything can be mapped to the buttons. Key action is nice too.

The bad:
The `end` key on the Insert / Home / PgUp block requires quite some velocity to get it to work. I end up `double clicking` it, as having it not activate while text editing can be a royal pain. This may just be a defect in my keyboard however.

Also the cut-off on the number of keys that can be pressed simultaneously seems very strict. For example, while pressing W+S together its impossible to get any response from the space bar. A very very big problem for gaming. In fact, if the mrs hadn`t thrown away the box I`d be returning this keyboard. I hope there is some software method of eleviating this problem.

Rating:
Two stars for gamers, four stars for general use.

Not up to usual standards

os: Not Applicable

I've had this keyboard for about five months now, and already the lettering is wearing off some of the keys, as is the silver where my hands rest.

This would be bearable if the cable hadn't started to break up, causing me to have to wiggle it around to get the thing to work.

Compared to other Microsoft keyboards I've had, this one is a disappointment. It is, in my opinion, only suited to light usage.
