Product Reviews
Excellent product and call quality
os:
Windows XPThis device is fantastic and does exactly what it says on the tin. There are just three ports on the back of the box – 1x USB and 2x RJ11. The supplied USB cable connects to your computer and powers the device, and the two RJ11 ports are used for your telephone handset: one to the phone itself and the other to the BT socket on the wall.
When someone calls your landline, your phone rings as normal. When someone calls you on Skype… your phone rings as normal! I’m using a Panasonic DECT cordless phone (with three handsets) which supports CallerID: when a Skype user “calls”, their name displays on my phone handsets without my programming anything in.
Pick up your handset and use it as a normal phone connected to your landline, or press ## to switch to the Skype ‘dialtone’. If you have set Speeddials in Skype, dial the speeddial number and press # to call your contact – no need to be beside your PC to call.
Another review says that the USRobotics software works – it does – but I got better results with the software supplied on CD. The only downside to the box is the sound of relays clicking each time I pick up the phone – no evidence that they won’t last forever but they could be a potential point of failure in the future. Great device overall though – why spend money getting a cheap USB handset for your PC when you can use the perfectly good cordless phone that you already have?!
US Robotics
This is a rebadged US Robotics 9620 USB Telephone Adapter - http://www.usr-emea.com/products/p-voip-product.asp?prod=voip-9620&loc=unkg The US Robotics drivers and software work with this rebadged effort. Of course, ebuyer's clone is half the price!
The product does exactly what it says on the tin and works perfectly with my cordless DECT/GAP phone.
Voip using your home cordless phone
I purchased this with some hesitation. I saw some similar ones, in fact very similar in looks/design/features costing double the ebuyer asking price.
I have now used it to make and receive calls via skype (not compatible with TESCO) and it does the job extremly well.
I havent tested all the features that are available. However, to make and receive calls using your family cordless phone this device excels and I strongly suggest you consider this one before departing with your cash, you will save a lot of money and be very pleased with your decision.
excellent kit
os:
Windows XPfirst thing - the box is very small - about the size of a pack of cigarettes. You must run the setup before plugging in the Gateway - it will tell you when - hardest part is finding the correct folder on the CD as it seems to have installs for all sorts. After that plain sailing. It works very well with my Philips Dect/GAP phone, can either use mouse in Skype or press ## on phone to go into VOIP - dial number then * to send. Buy £10 of credit on Skype before the end of the year and get 6 months free calls to UK landline numbers.
This is an excellent buy - so much tidier than a seprate phone with yet another usb cable trailing about.
Good but you need the right cables.
os:
Windows XPUK phones use a different wiring to the rest of the world. To get this to work, you need a modem cable (dialup, not broadband) and either a phone that connects using the inside pair of wires in an RJ11 (usually phones not from BT) or an adaptor that will convert the BT plug into an RJ11 like this http://linitx.com/product_info.php?cPath=102&products_id=679
The modem cable goes between the device and your wall socket, the phone or converter plug between your phone and device. If it's not working check if the VOIP light stays lit. If so, your cable between the device and wall is wrong, if not, your phone cable is incorrect.
In operation this device works well. Call quality seems ok (hard to tell as I have cheap cordless phones) and it performs as it should. Instructions are not very good, just use the ones for the US robotics mentioned in the other review.
Only downside is the audible clicking of relays.
Excellent product, excellent value

Windows XPI recently bought this from Ebuyer based on others recommendations (I find ebuyer user recommendations to be pretty good judgements on the whole).
Bought a DECT cordless phone with it, and at first I couldn't get it to work, as I tried to use the rj11 cable that came with the skype box to attach the DECT phone to the skype box. For some reason it really didn't like that.
I bought a a BT plug to RJ11 convertor and stuck that on the BT plug that came with the DECT phone, and then everything was fine. Picked up the phone and could hear a dialtone, took a few moments to set up speed dials in skype and everything worked.
Honestly there is no way you can go wrong with this product. I'm extremely happy with it.
Skype 3
os:
Windows XPafter loading Skype3 I started to get error messages about running an old version of Skype. As someone else has said you can download the driver from US Robotocs - get the latest 1.3 from
http://www.usr-emea.com/support/s-prod-template.asp?loc=unkg&prod=9620
Deinstall current and reinstall this version.
Not too sure why some people have had problems - this has worked really well for me.
It works
os:
Windows XPEasy installation. The cd has many drivers ,you just need to choose USB VOIP Gateway. You will need to assign speed dial for skpe contacts to call.I have connected to my old DECT phone. This switches well between skype and normal calls.
I tried skype-out. No problem. I have not tried full features yet.
This is worth the buy. Instead of buying expensive cordless Skype phone, this is a good buy where you use same old phone ,but with skype.
New driver software
This product is also sold by Usrobotics, under their own name.
They have new drivers on their site, that are much more stable and also add a voicemail facility for voip and pstn.
Must say, these drivers have made skype more pleasurable to use since i've installed them.

Getting BT phones to ring
Got mine up and running with no problems. Supplying the propper cables would have helped though.
One thing not mentioed in the reviews discussing BT wiring is that many older BT phones are connected using 3 wires in the cable, the 3rd one being for the bell. If you can get a dial tone, but the bell won't ring, try putting an ADSL filter between the skype box and the phone. ADSL filters to the BT specification should have a built-in "bell capacitor" and convert the 2 wire phone line from the skype box into the correct outgoing 3 wire system for the phone.
