Excellent

Not ApplicableYou'd better believe it! This HomePlug technology really works. Straight out of the box; plug into the mains at each end; connect up to your network; away you go - 5 minutes max.. For most SOHO use, unless you really need a blistering connection speed, this kit will save a fortune in having to lay CAT5 cable.
I've connected a backup server, tucked away in a corner of my house where WiFi signals don't reach, to my office at the bottom of the garden, on a 55 yard mains electric spur. I'm getting an average 40Mb connection speed, and it seems to be immune to normal mains interference. I'm also doing what the instructions explicitly advise against, and connecting using a mains 4-way extension block (you never have enough power points).
These babies were the answer to my IT prayers

Not ApplicableBOTTOM LINE: These babies were the answer to my IT prayers
REALITY vs. EXPECTATIONS: much better than I expected.
DETAILS: Well. I have never had such a bad time with my computer and internet as i did trying to hook up my windows vista ultimate RTM 6000 PC with MCE to my xbox360. It's been a nightmare. I have messed around with the ports, firewalls, wires, wireless, routers, splitting routers, access points and ethernet switches. If you have the same problem as i did, STOP! It's not worth the trouble. I was trying to get a wireless signal through a router to a wired connection and in all scenario's i had limited success of streaming media. Quick outline: 3 storey 1 yr old house. Wireless/wired router on ground floor, at front, xbox360 in lounge on first floor at back and Vista PC in office on top floor. I bought one xe103 for the router. 1 xe104 for the lounge (just for future proofing) and 1 xe104 for the office. I was worried they wouldn't work as the house was split to 2 socket ring mains and the adverts for these products state 'on the same ringmain'... Rubbish, they work on the earthing system (a complete circuit). I plugged in and all lights lit up i have 79mbps speed throughout streaming MCE and HDTV from the office to the ground to the lounge. I can permanently connect xbox360 to xbox live and the computer to the net. These are a must for ease and portability. If i move i take my network. its so damn easy! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I am impressed (big time) oh and vista MCE is fantastic with a NOVA-T-500 Hauppauge dual DVB-T card it works a dream.. Oh and one last thing.. Transcode 360 worked straight away with these babies, i have my divx and HD divx streaming without a fault! Matt
It really does work

Windows XPI took delivery of this product and within 15 minutes had successfully linked up my laptop. Absolutely plug and play. I had tried other ways of linking my laptop wirefree through thick walls and over three floors of the house but this is the only one that has worked using my existing BT Voyager router (ok there is a wire but it is an acceptable one). Excellent.
Stunning Bit Of Kit!

Windows XPWell the device's themself have a good feel, they are a little big. but not big enough that you cannot use your other socket, better results found when NOT using them of a 4 way adapter.
Worried about setting up, dont be. its so simple, simply plug one in upstairs and attach to the router, then the other downstairs or where ever the other machines are. then simply plug in your network cables into the devices, there is software but it is not needed.
(it is just to check link quality and setup a password to secure the network if you so wish.)
DHCP is still sent by you router/server,
most inpressed with this product.
chances are if you cannot get these to work in 5-10 mins you have a faulty unit.
One thing you may want to know, if the two devices are seeing one another the center light will go blue. (So there sould be 2 lights green power and blue POE link light.)
So simple !

Windows XPAbsolutely effortless set up - I had my new network up and running in less than 5 minutes - and whats more the hardware looks mighty fine too. Would strongly recommend !
XE104 & XE103
Up and running in minutes, the units are approx 4x3x2 inch, an adaptor block was required to position the unit sensibly in the socket. One unit the XE103 is connected via an extension lead without any discernable loss of performance. The XE103, when in stock, has only one RJ45 port. This was ideal for connecting my four port modem to the network and it is cheaper (modem is remote from PC) The fad for using brilliant blue LEDs means that the units light up the room in the dark. Good product! works faultlessly. I have no problem in recommending these units.
Ebuyer, when will you stock the XE103 again, XE104's are not necessary for all locations.
No problem with on/off switch on plug socket
I installed two of these in minutes and found that when plugged in they push the on/off switch into the on position and prevent it being turned off. This is ideal as it stops the kids easily turning it off, as it needs to be on all the time. These are a simple solution for a non-technical household and beats wireless on all counts.
At last something that works!

Windows VistaHaving moved my PC to another room away from the master telephone socket I have been using wireless to connect rather unsucessfully, I am using Netgear DG834GT router and Netgear WG111T wireless USB adaptor and getting very poor data transfer speeds often between 1 and 5 mbps
After a few weeks of searching I decided to order this, ordered at 4.30 and arrived next day at 10.00 thanks ebuyer!
After a quick read of the instructions it became apparent that I was needing another one (there are other products that are compatable check the Netgear website)So I ordered another one, finally the next day I set it up - what a doddle, simply plug one of these units in where your router is and connect ethernet cable between the router and XE104 and do the same in the other room where the PC is. There is no need to install any software it just works and works very well. Over the past 2 months that I have used these I very occasionally have to re set my router by switching it off for few seconds and back on again, this is only required after about 7 hours of continuious use(this is only my experience). I decided to install the software just to see what it is all about. The only thing I have found useful with the software it tells you the speed you are getting mine fluctuates between 50 - 75mbps and it is dependant on what electrical items that are switched on throughout the house. One thing to mention it is recommended to plug these directly into wall sockets rather than extension cables.
Well worth investing in the XE104 as it is easy to set up and it really does work!
Excellent product

Not ApplicableI bought two of these around 3 months ago to provide network coverage from my office (ground floor) to other rooms (up to 3rd floor).
The result has been excellent. Trouble-free operation - plug in and go - at high speed from top to bottom of the house. However, beware that if you have two mains zones with electric supply coming through two meters, the connection does not work between sockets in different zones. This should not affect most people, but I just happen to have a separate meter and ring main supplying the office area.
Doesn not work when linking XBOX360 and MCE/XP

Windows XPBeware. You can check out the issues on both NETGEAR and Microsoft's website. Netgear have been promising a firmware fix for 4 months but still no joy.
The quotes rates are theoretical maximums (i think they must have been plugged into the same socket when testing).. real world the rates are half the quoted and maybe less depending on distance and condition of wiring.
Good product though. Plug'n'Play and works everytime.
Wish they would fix the bugs though.
