Firmware here
V1.16 of the firmware is here, enables Wireless MAC filter and corrects some bad english in other options!
File name says 1.18 but it inastalls as 1.16, real care taken by Linksys on this one.

Excellent! 5 mins to set up
os:
Windows VistaI had bought this to replace a old Netgear WGR614V6. Netgear had served me for around 18 monhts before it stopped working. Had my reservations before buying this one as no where it was mentioned if this one works with vista. But to my surprise it does very well. and just took me about 5 mins to set up. It has got good provision for the air to flow through such that it is cool all the time. My netgear was just like a micro heater.
I would strongly recommend this for anyone. Although often routers fail to deliver after a year or so usage, i hope this one will not become my netgear like and from teh reviews i dont get any bad reviews for this one than netgear.
Good but caution

Windows XPI bought this WRT54GR to replace my D-Link 614+ which was dying just under two years old. There are plenty of praises with WRT54G_S_L routers and I need one that can reach a good distant so I went for the Rangebooster R version.
I am using the unit with Virgin Media (Telewest) broadband service.
I am fairly experience with setting up routers from D-Link, Cisco and Netgear, this is my first Linksys. The set up using the CD is straight forward and I was up with wired connection in a few minutes. The interface is better than all the others, easy to find and change settings.
The problem came when I try to secure the wireless with MAC address filtering, it does not work! I keep getting Invalid MAC address even with the built-in 'wizard' to add the MAC address. I phoned the Linksys helpline and got a friendly technician to help with the problem. She suggested a few firmware patches from their beta site but none was compatible with the UK version 1.1 hardware(she wasn't aware that UK has different hardware than US). Subsequently a firmware arrived via email, patching from V1.04 to V1.16 and the MAC address filtering works after a reboot (unplug the power).
Another problem is WPA2 encryption with Nintendo Wii; I can't get the Wii connected to the router unless I drop it down to WPA and all is well.
The wireless setting is now WPA, SSID broadcast disabled and MAC address filter enabled. I am connecting wirelessly to a VISTA Media Centre, a VISTA (Home premium) laptop, an old laptop using a D-Link 'b' PCMCIA card and Wii.
In short, once the correct firmware is applied, it works fine; good clean easy to use interface, quick set up; roughly 10% better coverage than my old D-Link unit. The technical support is quick and friendly. But I can't help feeling that I am beta testing the new V1.1 hardware? If you don't want to messing around with the firmware get one of the other WRT54G units, otherwise, I think it is good value for money.
PS I think the speedboosting of the WRT54GS is not compatible with VISTA.
Can be slow

Windows VistaI bought one of these a few weeks ago, and it was great, except it had trouble connecting to the internet. It was so slow! I tried contacting Linksys tech support, but they were useless - they offered to replace it, but then failed to give me an RMA. There are many people with this same problem. See http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Routers&message.id=9616 for more details.
In the end, I returned it to ebuyer and they gave me a refund. I bought a Zyxel NBG334W instead, which works perfectly.
