Does what it's supposed to
os:
Windows XPI've used keyboards and optical mice cheaper than this before but have found that they never really match up to the quality of the offerings from Microsoft/Logitech so when I needed a new black combo, I went for this set. A solid keyboard with the usual 'multimedia' buttons plus a zoom slider on the left hand side (haven't played with this yet but probably a bit of a novelty). The mouse is the standard Microsoft Optical with a bit of silver on the sides, a nice size, weight and very accurate - as I have always found with MS mice. Both mouse and keyboard are USB with a PS2 convertor supplied. I never bother with USB, why waste two perfectly good USB ports when you've got PS2 ports on all desktops? at least this gives you the choice. Supplied with a software CD to enable all the multimedia buttons etc.
I can't see the point of wireless keyboards and mice unless you are sitting a way from your PC (Media Centre PC I suppose) and unless you spend a fair bit you usually suufer in the quality stakes. So, if you just need a solid wired keyboard and mouse solution, for the price, it doesn't get much better than this.
Great!

Windows XPI had the Wireless Optical 1000, I even wrote a review on it. However, I've had it for over a year and it was getting a bit worn down.
I decided to go for this one for my bedroom PC. I knew the mouse like the back of my hand because I had used it for a year at my IT lessons in college. Because it has 5 buttons placed all over the place, it may feel strange for some at the start.
Like others, the mouse wheel is a bit noisy and stiff but that's because it's new. Wait for a few months and it'll be fine.
The keyboard is fine too. On my old Wireless Optical 1000, I had multimedia hotkeys and it's a shame this doesn't. Then again, it is a BUSINESS Hardware Pack - I don't think your boss would be too impressed if you were encouraged to listen to music at work!
It has got volume hotkeys, 5 custom hotkeys and some other hotkeys such as Mail, Web/home, Messenger, Calculater, Log Off and Sleep.
I never use the zoom slider because I can always read the text fine on my PC. It would be better if they designed it so it was a scroller like the scroll wheel on the mouse.
The keys are nice and quiet and have a good feel to them. As for F Lock, I never use it! Another reviewer said he uses it all the time but I keep forgetting I have them there. I never used them on my old Wireless Optical 1000.
Enjoy.
Good for office use
os:
Not ApplicableThis is a very good combo. Good price.
Perfect for the office. Home users may want the `Pro` version instead. (poor naming convention imho)
Mouse:
---
Very good tracking etc, comfortable. Mouse wheel a little noisy on fast-scrolling, but this is a very minor issue.
Keyboard:
---
Fairly large when using the palm-reset (recommended), but very comfortable to use. Nice action and feedback from all the keys. Standard 3x2 layout above the arrow keys.
The F Keys perform various actions (Undo, Open, Close, Reply, Spell, etc) in compatible apps (e.g. MS Office) unless you have the `F Lock` on.
(I always have the F-lock key on, and luckily that is remembered by the hardware)
Note that there are no `multimedia` buttons (other than vol +/-/mute) as implied in the other review, though there are 5 customisable buttons.
You will find that you cannot set these to control WMP/Winamp/etc without external applications as they can only launch programs (as you can using Windows > Run...).
Final minor issue: The `zoom slider` on the left goes the wrong way- push up (labelled `+`) and text will become smaller (zoomed out), and vice versa.
Gamer
os:
Windows XPNice keyboard, feels good and comes with a wrist rest which is really important.
For gaming this keyboard is fine it does everything it should and I can happly hold W,A and Ctrl and change weapon with Q with no problems.
The mouse is good the wheel was a bit stiff when i got it but after only a weeks worth of use it feels fine. I havent had any problems with the mouse occationally jumping around.
A good package at a good price!
Excellent quality and value
os:
Windows XPI bought one of these for home after I used one at work. I have been impressed with both. Both are smart and sufficienly well put together that I feel no need to pay more for a higher grade of keyboard and mouse.
happy customer

Not ApplicableMouse:
Bought this pack a bit sceptical about actually usin the extra buttons on the mouse>
-i warmed into it very quickly and now miss it when usin other pc!- brilliant for browsin net pages- moves backward and forward a page- no need to install software for this feature have uninstalled it.
Keyboard:
The follwin dont work without S/W installed:
-F Lock buttons(personnally dont use them- although no doubt would use it if used word/outlook etc more)
-slider(doesnt work properly with firefox :( seems to both scroll and zoom at the same time)
-my favourites(i dont use)
A quality feeling about this keyboard does the job its designed for- well.
The volume, shortcuts- i.e. internet(knows i use firefox), messenger-(have customed it to my preferred)- and others all makes me have to do less work and ultimately achieve my task quicker and easier.
all in all am a very happy with my purchase- a quality product.
Well done ebuyer!

Windows VistaFirstly may i comment on the superb service from ebuyer, i placed my oreder at 7:30pm with next delivery (which was a free birthday gift thingy from ebuyer) and received it the following morning at 8:00am! The product itself is well built, the keyboard has the usual 'favorite' keys etc which come in hardy, plus a zoom slider for pictures and scrolling web pages. The mouse is a basic optical mouse with a clicking wheel (if you know what i mean), and two side buttons for going back or forward. Overall a good service and good product.
Just a note about the supplied software
I have this keyboard + mouse set at work and at home.
At work, using with a Dell Latitude, at home with an IBM ThinkCentre - both running XP
In both cases, I had various display issues such as flickering (esp Photoshop - not ideal as I spend all day working with this), screen refreshes and juddering after installing the software. I narrowed it down to the mouse software - after uninstalling it, everything returned to normal.
Mouse type?
What kinda mouse is this is it a 4D mouse or a 3D mouse or just a typical 2D mouse?
Disappointing quality
os:
Windows XPI bought this set for my sister's birthday as she doesn't like wireless keyboards and mice. Whilst I generally rate Microsoft keyboard sets rather highly, this one left me disappointed. Firstly, the pictures on the website, and on the box, give the impression that the set is black and silver; in fact it is a dark navy colour. The quality and feel of the product are also rather poor. For instance, there are moulding defects in the plastic; the wrist rest doesn't follow the contours of the keyboard very well (and is solid plastic, not padded); and there is just a general tacky feel. Perhaps this is what I should have expected as it is 'Buisness Hardware' set rather than one designed for personal use. I'm sure my sister won't even notice that lack of quality, but I wish I'd been able to buy a more expensive wired set in hindsight.
