I bought this without a previous review wondering is it actually what it says it is. So many unanswered questions like:

Is it black - yes

Will it take all cards - Yes it takes SD, MS, MMC, CF, SM etc etc. Each slot is also adapted to fit other less common cards.

Will it work - yes, just plugged it into the mobo turned on the PC, windows found and recognised it straight away. (also comes with installation CD)

Yeh thats about it!

This fits inside a 3 1/2 inch floppy bay, plugs directly into the motherboard with a usb internal motherboard 9/10 pin connector (look at your motherboard manual). Shows up as removable hard disks on Windows. Works fine with a reduced size MMC (dual voltage) of the type some Nokia phones use.

It is black, with a red power light and a green activity light. Also comes with the four screws needed to fit it.

Build quality seems ok, pretty solid with no exposed circuit board on the inside.

Works a treat on the cards I have tried, and no drivers required for XP, as claimed - just plug in and play. Goodness knows how anyone produces such hardware at this cost!

Few minor points to note:
1. It does not come with 5.25in bay adapter, contrary to the impression given in the photo.
2. The USB port is only 2.0 if your Motherboard directly supports 2.0, otherwise it is 1.0 (eg mine).
3. xD cards fit in the left-hand side of the SM (Smartmedia) slot, not in the SD/MMC slot as claimed.
4. It is slightly different in appearance to the photo, but this is in no way a problem.

This product is very simple to install and requires no drivers if you use win xp, although it is slightly diffrent in appearance then in the illustration shown, which will not bother me at all as it is black.
Great buy!!!!

os: Linux

This arrived early, was fitted in minutes and on placing my camera card in the slot brought up the file browser at once. I use Ubuntu Linux.

Well made with red power, green activity, leds. A standard mother-board usb plug on a slightly short lead (fine for my board and case though).

Brilliant value!

Neat little drive, no branding which made it a perfect fit into my all black antec p182 case. The finish on the casing of mine was a little rough and the pin holes to connect it to the mobo were a bit tight. But it worked straight away and all the new drives were recognised without needing the bundled cd.

I had problems with this, my pc wouldn't boot with it and the MS slot wasn't working, but after RMAing it and getting another one, it's perfect! I've only tested the MS and SD slots but they're working perfectly! Also, additional usb port is good. Even though brackets give you 2 USB ports it doesn't matter as 1 would be taken up by a card reader anyway.

For the price compared to some other usb card readers, can't fault it at all. Gets a 5.

Windows Vista Ultimate recognised this on fresh install and its simple to physically install, all the hard work is done through the USB lead.

Mine looked a little different to the one pictured. In my opinion, it looks slightly better.

Very handy having a usb port on the front of my PC! I doubt this product can be beaten considering its price!
