MacGreat service, speedy delivery and a FANTASTIC product! This and the 2Gb Crucial memory upgrade purchased at the same time from ebuyer has transformed my 1 Ghz Powerbook. Can also recommend www.ifixit.com for very good detailed installation instructions on the Apple Mac Powerbook range (but not for the non-technical).

Windows XPThe hard drive is amazing. In practice it is actually 152 Gig which is impressive for a laptop. Only problem that i have had is that when i installed xp on it, a 20 Gb partition wa created leaving me with 127Gb for some reason. The 8 Mb cache is definately noticible as the more i load a game, the quicker it loads. Was supposed to get next day delivery but i didnt. I guess its ok though. I also bought an external caddie like the customer above and can transfer files across at 20Mb/s!!!! Another satisfied customer here again. I love this site.
Its All Good!

Also thumbs up to Ebuyer, order was supposed to be next day and wasnt, refunded me the difference within 3 days of receiving goods.

Windows XPSeagate ST9160821A Momentus 160GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
I have been using this HD inside an Ebuyer value caddy (unfortunately it has been discontinued) for about 3 months. It works very well, no problems at all. I just didn’t know how to format it first, then after some struggle, I managed to figure out how to format a disk in win xp and it has been working perfectly. It is very quiet and fast. So I decided to buy a second one. So now I have two 160MB caddies. This HD is highly recommended.
perfect

Windows XPChanged my 60gb for this actually 149gb disk.
Everything went fine after I located the old the one in my Toshiba s209 (their manual mentions nothing about the location).
Used the reinstall CD that came with the laptop, it formatted the new one and reloaded XP.
Added extra ebuyer memory at the same time, and everything is now much smoother.
Its big!

Windows XPBought this to upgrade my Dell D505 laptop 40Gb drive. Bought a Sumvison 2.5" caddy (also from ebuyer), put the new drive in, plugged in the USB cable to my laptop and used XP to format the new drive. I got hold of some imaging software (R-Drive Image-20 day free trial available on the web!-used the Disk to Disk function on the software) and imaged my old drive onto the Seagate momentus in the caddy. Then put the momentus in my laptop and the old drive in the caddy.
Works a treat. It does actually seem to spin a little louder than my old laptop drive, but the accessing and writing noises are noticably quieter.
Also noticed that when I used Partition Logic (Free bootable partitioning software available from the web) to extend the partition which my imaging software created on the new disk, I was left with 20Gb of unused space which I in the end decided to use as another partition (had to format this bit of the drive again in Windows XP). Seems another reviewer also had a similar experience. However this is not an issue really. It works, its big and quick. I think its the biggest 2.5-inch drive available at moment for computers with Parallel ATA interfaces.
Recommended! 4 out of 5 stars only cause it spins louder than my old drive, but Im a difficult customer to please.

Windows XPBought this to upgrade my laptop HD; needed something robust as I planned to use my old HD to drop into a media player to watch programmes on TV.
All great; the original order did seem to drop off somewhere, but this was resolved and the order was delivered on time. The HD itself is great, took me minutes to install it and reboot the PC, have installed all of my OS and peripheral software. No problems and my laptop does seem to start and close down more quickly - which is great!
Would recommend this for the price and the service was good too.
Not That Good

Windows XPI had one of these in my hp dv5000 for about a year now, or to tell you the truth, i have gone through two so far and it looks like i am going to need a new one again soon, the first drive turned up DOA and ebuyer changed it no questions asked, (thats good serves for you) the second one died after a few months and ebuyer tested and found it dead and changed it again, and the 3rd one is now giving me crc errors so i think it will die on me soon, not sure why i am having so much trouble, with this hard drive in my laptop, the laptop lives on my desk and never gets moved the laptop is about a year old, but used on a daily basic. When the drive works, its fast and loads of space (what i need), so i will give this two stars.
Oh Dear

Windows XPI bought this drive to replace the Toshiba drive on a Sony Laptop which lasted 5 years. Easy to fit and good capacity/price BUT I have just rma'd the second drive as both failed with the dreaded click of death while I was still rebuilding the system. Two stars for size and price as you may get lucky but I'm trying something else...
Disk needs to be initialised
@BH (above)
The disk is connected at the device level, but not at the logical (drive letter) level because it doesn't have a partition table and, in the case of XP, a Master File Table. This is because it is as yet unititialised (i.e. it has zeros in every byte of every sector).
To initialise the disk, go to 'Start','Run...' and type 'compmgmt.msc' (without the quotes). Go to disk manager. When the window populates, you will see your new disk in the caddy, in an unititialised state. Right click on it, choose 'initialise' and then format the disk afterwards.
Hey presto your newly initialised disk will be assigned a drive letter and available for use. A point of caution, do not assume that because the disk is brand new, that the media surface will be error-free. First of all, run the disk's own low-level media surface inspection tool in repair mode (if available). Most drive manufacturers have relevant downloads on their websites.
Then run Windows error checking, that can sometimes spot higher level errors in the newly-created MFT and file structure.
