Awesome Mouse
os:
Not ApplicableThis mouse is awesome.
Installation was easy - MS Intellipoint software is very user-friendly.
The mouse itself is great. The wireless receiver seems to pick the mouse up from anywhere on the desk, whatever is in the way.
The mouse comes with 2xAA batteries - I am using my own at the moment as I am unsure about sending it back. Not because I don't like the mouse, but I just found out about the MS Habu (Q/F118546) which looks amazing.
But back to this mouse - very smooth pointer. I found it very sensitive to begin with, so I slowed it down using the software.
Laser technology (no optics) means no annoying red lights beaming out from underneath the mouse. The side buttons are strange. They can be programmed to do all sorts of things but I found the right one quite difficult to press, but I am getting used to it now.
The wheel is really smooth and nice, and you can side scroll with it, which is cool. It can be used by lefties as well as righties and if I'm honest, is pretty much a flawless wireless mouse.
Wireless laser technology in a really good-looking package for £25? Buying this would be no mistake by any stretch of the imagination. Quality.
Great
os:
Windows XPhad this mouse now for over 3 months, put my rechargeable batteries in nearly straight away, the batteries are still on the good side in the software, used a optical mouse b4 this only lasted 3 weeks tops, this is like 3 months, top mouse, a must buy

Microsoft laser 5000 mouse

Not ApplicableBought this on a whim but found it very easy to install (I am not a computer nerd)and even easier to use. I was fed up with the red light of an optical mouse blinking at me all the time. The mouse was very sensitive at first but I altered this and the software allows you to change the designated actions ofr the buttons. The magnifier is particularly useful. I would certainly recommend this mouse to anyone - beginner or advanced user. Great value for money.
Superb all-rounder and lowest power comsumption wireless mouse I've used
os:
Max OSXI work with software day in, day out and I use this mouse at work to prevent RSI as it is very ergonomic. This for me is the best mouse I've used, so good I recently purchased one for use with my iMac at home, even though it's not white, it's performance means it replaces the apple mouse.
The intellipoint software on mac is flawless. You can customise every thing. I use the right button for expose and the left for back.
Tracking is very accurate, smooth. There's is no red beams at the bottom which is great. The scroll wheels goes vertical and horizontal but it is SILENT which is welcomed.
I've used this mouse at work for 3 months and I've not needed to replace the battery and this is with 10-12 hr a day solid use. Other mice I've used (wireless) have required battery changed in the wks timescale.
Ebuyers price was the cheapest I could find and they delivered on schedule. Microsoft make great keyboards and mice, that is known and this is no exception. A truly well built functional product.
I should add for Mac users. I had an old Microsoft wired explorer mouse which would work fine until the mac went into sleep mode. Upon wake it would not work without disconnecting and re-connecting the mouse. Thankfully the mouse does not exhibit the same issue and works perfectly.
Not so good with Vista
os:
Windows VistaI have played with this thing for a little while now and am none too impressed!
The Wheel is awful, I much prefer a wheel to have incremental steps. The wheel turns like it is being restricted by a piece of rubber.
The biggest problem for me is its scrolling function with Vista Ultimate. It scrolls down okay but trying to scroll up, it seems to BOUNCE back down a couple of inches.
Even maintaining a constant scrolling action it keeps bouncing down.
My system dual boots with XP and in XP Pro Sp2 it is fine. The problem must be Vista.
I have played with all the settings and downloaded Intellipoint 6.2 from Microsoft but no change.
Also of note is the Intellipoint version supplied on CD with the mouse is not Vista Comaptible. You have to download it first.
It's wireless reception is good and it's accuracy is good on all sorts of surfaces (much better than a standard optical mouse)
If it wasn't for the awful wheel and Vista issues, would have got more stars.
