Ignore geeks - they compare things, they don't take photos!
review by: Anonymous os: Not Applicable

I am getting annoyed with all the geeks who seem to be obsessed with the speed of their memory cards. If you have a point and shoot, the camera will be slower than the card. If you have a half decent but affordable SLR (e.g. Nikon D80) shooting more than 10 or so shots in burst mode, then yes, you may need a fast card. In reality, if you need a higher performance camera (and can afford one) then you won't be reading this. Conclusion: just buy this card or any other that is cheap enough - if you are a normal human being and not a professional sports photographer, you will not even notice the difference.

I only bought this card because the high speed card was out of stock
I almost gave it away because I thoughtt it would be too slow, however it consistently writes large files at roughly double the specification
Spec says 1.5 Mbytes/sec
I get 2.87 Mbyte/sec
Using a USB2 card reader that cost £2.46 from ebuyer. It reads at double that speed.
Same card reader achieves 2.5Mbytes/sec on a Datawrite card that claims 75x

Kingston SD Card 2GB

Bought these as they were roughly a quarter of the price of own brand "normal speed" cards in Jessops. I would assume these Kingston cards are as good as SanDisk ones. They work OK in Nikon Coolpix L2 (6MP) and Coolpix L3 (5.1MP) cameras. Haven't tested them with the video capabilities yet, but that's not why I bought the cameras. Plenty of space!
Price has dropped slightly since...

Bought one of these a couple of months ago when they were a little more expensive (13 quid) very pleased with it. Not the fastest card for data transfer, but then I did load 28 mp3 albums onto it. Currently using it in an Orange M600 mobile phone. Works perfectly and getting one for less than a tenner - even better...

Additional Note: I also have a couple of 512Mb versions of this card which are now 14 months old, never had a single problem, shoved 1 in my TOMTOM so I could add extra maps and celebrity voices.

Works fine with pda and camera

Had this card for few weeks now, and I'm using it with a Canon Ixus 60 and a Dell Axim X5 pda. Both of them seem to work without any problems. I was a bit worried before ordering, as I couldn't find exactly what SD spec does the Axim require, or what maximum capacity SD card does it support. I'm using it to store and watch movies in DivX format on Axim. I haven't run any rigorous speed tests, so no comments there - but didn't notice it being slow either. Oh, and stating the obvious, but definitely good value too at £10.99. I also bought a generic sd card from Ebuyer, 2GB as well, and that works OK too.

Formats to 1.91 GB so cant complain, at this price its an absolute bargain. Very happy, works perfectly for my mp3 player...however, if you want a high speed card this isnt the one for you.

Thumbs up,

Thanks again Ebuyer

Great product and at under ten quid for 2 GB quite remarkable. Works faultlessly in my Panaonic DMC-FX01 camera and would recommend it to others
