HP 6980 duplex colour printer
os:
Windows XPThe description says the duplexer is optional, but it is included - the cheaper 6940 is the same printer without the duplexer. Printing on both sides saves paper and works really well for most documents. If you're printing photos, it automatically switches to single-sided.
Print quality is great. Black and white diagrams are really clear and detailed, even in Fast Normal print mode. Photos print right to the edge of A4 sheets and look superb on HP Everyday photo paper (you need to fib and say you're using premium photo paper to get it to print borderless, but the results are excellent).
Wireless setup was easy with the Ethernet cable provided. You can use a USB memory stick if you don't have an ethernet port.
JUST WHAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR
os:
Windows XPWanted a wireless printer or ethernet. This HP printer was easy to get working over a wireless link, although instructions not the clearest so took a couple of reads. Very good value. Very fast a quiet. Quality of print is good for general letter and internet printing. I don't use for photos so can't comment.
yes indeed an ace printer!

Windows XPBought this a few weeks ago, and still blown away by its solid quality and value for money.
Although the photo might be slightly misleading I am sure mine is more grey than blue :( Anyway a very minor gripe!
I am using it wirelessly, and setup was a dodle for a slightly computer literate person. You need to use the ethernet cable to get started if you are going through your wireless router to set up the ip addrress etc... Now I can use my web-browser to check the staus of the printer. I believe you can use it in ad-hoc mode but havent tried the.
The print quality is totally amazing, and you can print on loads of different media. I have tried thick card and photo paper, all auto-detected by the printer so no faffing around.
Yes if you want to spend a little bit more go for this printer, it is very fast, quite and solid.
I love it!
