Brilliant
os:
Windows XPI connected it up to my local network loaded the driver and it all worked perfectly, no fuss, no trouble, it did just what is said on the box, colour printing across a network.
Great printer
os:
Not ApplicableBeen using it on my network for six months now. Printed several runs of a thousand sheets plus loads of smaller jobs and still running strong.
No complaints at all!
Mixed Feelings!!
I purchased this printer two months ago and the basic print quality, speed etc is very good – it does exactly what I purchased it for other than the usual kind of problems with printers working on networks (sometimes it’s just not recognised, other times, it’s there no problem – this despite all the networking software and tweaks etc).
The main issue though that I thought I should share, is that I noticed that it is not printing square on the sheet. Having looked at the obvious things with no solution, I contacted Epson Tech Support. Oops – now the problems started! Nice polite service over the phone, but from then on, a disorganised mess. No communication between departments, service engineer turning up with no appointment and wrong information. Having verified that the thing is faulty, he said approx 5-6 weeks turn around if he took the machine away OR, despite a three year warrantee that I have, it would be replaced with a second-hand machine which will be older and done far more service than mine. Service engineer told me that they have had this same problem with several of these machines, but it’s Epson’s policy not to replace a faulty machine only two months old with a new one, or one of equal age. Apparently they will only do that inside the first two weeks from your purchase if the machine is faulty. I’ve read right through all the paperwork and the warranty states that they’ll repair or replace a faulty machine. What they don’t say is that it will take weeks to do or that the replacement will be just some other repaired machine that could be a lot older that the new one you’ve just purchased.
Me thinks I’m not too happy. I guess you wouldn’t be either, so beware before you make your decision to buy.
This service is industry standard
Andy and everyone else should be made aware that his experience is standard for onsite warranty, no matter what company you deal with.
Though most do provide a loan unit while yours is away.
